May 23, 201510 yr comment_5669608 So is this the only time the Funks faced each other in a singles match?
May 24, 201510 yr comment_5669756 Thanks I wonder why that is? Have either of them commented on why there was never a prolonged feud between them? They just simply like being partners more than opponents?
December 18, 20186 yr comment_5873501 Not for the faint of the heart, as it's a 50 minute long old school title bout built around mostly simple hold for hold work without any flash whatsoever. That being said Terry Funk is damn great here and Dory well atleast he looks like he is concerned with what is going on. Funk's selling made this look like an epic war, and he was bumping huge aswell. Loved his desperation escape from a butterfly suplex attempt. Lots of punishing headlocks, armlocks and leglocks. The crowd was pretty into this aswell considering this style was pretty much passe at this point. This is mostly back and forth but every once there would be a slick backslide or unexpected toe hold. This is for the purists and Terry Funk superfans only but I don't regret watching.
July 14, 20241 yr comment_6022665 This is the kind of match that you either love or hate and I ended up liking it a whole lot. It's Dory vs Terry going at it for 55 minutes, with a heavy focus on matwork. I get that you don't get much flashiness or movez here, but you shouldn't: it's a battle between two brothers, who want to outwrestle each other and don't even attempt pinfalls for most of the bout. Terry's selling was great here, we was copying everything Dory did at one point, because his brother got the best of him on the mat. We got a clean finish to boot, which is also a plus in the 80s. I get that this is not for everyone, but it's just a good example to differentiate a matwork sequence from a rest hold ****
