Cut to the finish. Malenko gets a nice nearfall reversing a dive from the top. Malenko works well at blocking the Liontamer. Crowd pops big when Malenko reaches the ropes. Tony/Bobby on commentary are really good at putting that counter over. Malenko then hits a gutbuster from the top and Malenko looks poised to winning this one. He goes for the flying leg lariat, but Jericho is able to reverse it into the Liontamer. Malenko is inches away from the ropes but Jericho pulls him back into the middle and Malenko taps. Damn good finish and I would like to see this one in full. The Liontamer has been put over big the past couple of months.

Gene rubs it in Dean's face and says he should have won the match tonight. Dean conveys his frustration and emotion well. Gene brings up that Dean is now 0-4 in the past four PPVs. Gene calls him a loser. Holy shit, Gene is shooting. Gene asks where Dean goes from here and Malenko simply says..... home. Extremely effective stuff.

Last few minutes. Match looks pretty okay, but nothing better than that. Jericho retains the cruiserweight title. Gene Okerlund walks right by Jericho and Jericho seems offended. Gene chastises Malenko over losing this match, talking some bullshit about oddsmakers. Gene is tough on Malenko, who simply responds by just saying he's going home. Gene was such an ass here.

Okerlund and the whole post-match scene makes very little sense, since there was no putting over of any kind of Malenko losing streak, nor was it put over that Jericho was overmatched and had no chance. With Schiavone openly wondering, "What's this about?" as Okerlund heads into the ring it really feels like a Mean Gene heel turn. "Now you are a bona fide LOSER." Finishing stretch is okay enough, I guess, but little more than that. Okerlund complains that Malenko didn't answer any questions, even though he did answer the one question he asked.
