He knows he can get it back on Sunday, so he's willing to give it up. Jericho comes out to celebrate, but Dillon cuts him short. Dillon tells Jericho they will have a match at the Great American Bash to decide the title but until then it's vacant. Jericho is livid. Ted Irvine, Jericho's dad, comes out to chastise him for complaining so much. He tells him to shut up and go earn the belt in the ring if he wants it so bad. This was good, but it would have been funnier if his dad was more like him with a strange hairstyle.
September 15, 201411 yr comment_5625179 I liked the way Ted appeared here as it showed the straight laced father looking on his rebellious son with disappointment. In some ways, you could have some sympathy for Jericho if he wasn't such a prick. Dean giving the belt up saying he can win it fairly at GAB was also good and again this should have been the blow off to the whole thing.
September 17, 201411 yr comment_5625897 Jericho's dad actually cut a really good promo on him. I guess he had interview experience from his NHL days. Even Dean delivered his message with some vigor in an effective overall segment. Also, I never get tired of Jericho calling Dillon Jo Jo.
June 15, 20169 yr comment_5757129 Good call to run this angle in a hockey city like Buffalo. I'm not sure about the logic of Malenko forfeiting the title in order to get Jericho back in the ring, when it doesn't seem all that hard to get a Cruiserweight title shot in WCW.
