September 17, 201411 yr Author comment_5625816 More of a snapshot to show how over Austin was at this point than anything else. Boss Man got in great shape for this run, but didn't really deliver anything in the ring. Boss Man hits Austin with the nightstick for the DQ, which means Austin advances. They do an injury angle as Boss Man continues the attack longer after the match. Vince laughs while watching on, which is part of the overall scheme to weaken him going into the next round. Vince seems unaffected by Austin advancing in the tournament, simply saying the night is young and there's far more where that came from.
November 3, 201410 yr comment_5637645 Basic stuff to set up the storyline for the rest of the night. Kind of sad Bossman didn't get that one longish match vs. Austin from around this time. I actually think they could have worked at Judgement Day and then Austin could have refereed. *
October 6, 20169 yr comment_5770848 Pretty routine match, with Vince watching approvingly from his dressing room. Boss Man whacks Austin with the nightstick to draw a DQ, but Vince is unfazed as he does a number on Stone Cold after the bout. Interestingly, according to the Observer right before this show, Austin had vetoed two proposed angles: one where the Boss Man would lay him out to end Raw, and one where...Shane would turn on him as referee at Survivor Series. Vince clearly won that particular power struggle in the end.
