This is a brawl to start with both guys and we have a donny brook. Eventually Bob gets his jacket off. We get a punch and kick exchange. Both guys eye rake each other. Big forearm from Bob. Hansen with 3 consecutive knee drops. A big suplex from Hansen. Hansen's working the neck. Bob with a comeback and is cut off. Stan is back on the neck. Bob uses all of his energy for a slam. Bob misses Stan in the corner and Stan is now on the arm and just mangles it. Bob with hammer punches and then Stan cuts him off. Big knee by Bob. Bob delivers a Butterfly suplex, and follows up with a Piledriver. Stan nails an ax lariot and Bob bumpos to the outside. Here the match loses steam for a couple of minutes. They get it back and are having a double juice brawl that gets tossed out. A pretty choice match that is a high end nomination.

BOB BACKLUND vs STAN HANSEN (02/16/1981; WWF MSG; New York, NY; 00:24:01) 4*
Stan attacks and Bob isn’t even in the ring! Bob fights back still wearing the world title. He hit Stan with the belt! This is electric. Hansen keeps getting knocked over the ropes and keeps coming back for more. I love it. The belt is taken away but Bob still has his jacket on, punching away. Stan slows things down controlling Bob. Bob fights out of an armbar with nasty elbows but Stan gets it back on. They work the armbar but nothing exciting until Bob whips him and hits a Jumbo knee of his own. Backlund with a butterfly suplex; a piledriver. OH FUCK. That could’ve ended badly. Bob goes for another Jumbo knee but Stan got the kitchen sink and Bob is out. Hansen hits Bob upside the head with the arm and Bob just drops on the apron and out. Turns out he had a foreign object in the elbow pad. The crowd is silent. Hansen kicks or punches Bob every time he shows signs of life. Bob is bleeding. Bob is weird but he may be convulsing. Hansen is just tagging Bob in the face. Bob is so fucked. Bob fights back and the crowd is roaring. Hansen thrown to the railing. Thrown to the camera and it shakes lol. To the ring post. Bob is out of control. Kicks Stan in the face. Another ring post shot. Like the Pedro match, they brawl out of control and a bunch of refs pull them apart. This was a satisfying war. The arm work in the beginning could get a bit tedious but this is an EASY NOMINATION.
