February 17, 201510 yr Author comment_5654780 I thought the tag show was absolutely fantastic and one of the best shows ever to go out on our feed (imho). Kelly and Marty Sleaze actually make a perfect tag-team. Their personalities just complement each other so well. Kelly is calm, cerebral, smooth-talking, taking us on engaging and well-informed history lessons, sitting by the fire with a pipe and probably wearing a Scooby-doo-esque cardigan. Marty is so full of energy, excitement and enthusiasm, breaking down the matches in a totally captivating way -- old enough to know his shit, but still too young to be jaded by life. Going to have to dig out that Tito-Steamer vs. Dream Team match. Sounds awesome.
February 18, 201510 yr comment_5654803 Great stuff on the tag team episode. I would agree with Parv on the pairing. I wonder, if either Kelly or Marty have watched much 80s AJPW and how the style was not as hard-hitting as one would assume based on the 90s, if Hansen in that environment was similar to Valentine in the 80s WWF?
February 18, 201510 yr comment_5654805 Parv, those are mighty fine comments and I really appreciate them that's exactly what I seek to achieve. DaWho, I have only watched the 88 Real World Tag League Final and a couple of the Choshu tags so I can't comment in good conscience yet, but if I have some time I will look into them.
February 18, 201510 yr comment_5654857 Really good show boys, and Valentine as WWF wrestler of the decade for the 80s is food for thought certainly....
February 18, 201510 yr comment_5654858 Also, is this: Dream Team v Windham and Rotunda 24/08/85 The Spectrum on youtube anywhere? Sorry, I'm hopeless looking that stuff up!
February 18, 201510 yr comment_5654868 Since Valentine was talked so greatly on this show. I want to point out Parv is still ducking my Valentine vs Ted Dibiase debate.
February 18, 201510 yr Author comment_5654869 Career vs. career Ted smokes Greg. You want to have it out? Let's do it shoe.
February 19, 201510 yr comment_5654984 Wow! Gut reaction is Ted by a landslide, but then you think about his willingness to just get by in WWF as time wore on........ Could be an interesting one.
February 20, 201510 yr comment_5655036 Career vs. career Ted smokes Greg. You want to have it out? Let's do it shoe. We can book the second official debate on the Super Show?
February 23, 201510 yr comment_5655398 I wrote a companion piece to the Tag Teams Back Again podcast with Ricky Jackson (Kelly). I highly recommend listening over reading, but I thought this would also be a good way to highlight a lot of my WWF Tag Team work over the years. I have been postponing The Rockers piece and I really need to get it done because I think they are the best team in WWF history. January 8, 20169 yr Author comment_5719398 Titans Xtra makes an unexpected comeback with this experiemental format: https://soundcloud.com/jerryvonkramer/titans-xtra-wwf-april-23rd-capital-centre Join Parv and Kelly in this Mystery Science Theatre-style experience, as they watch a random -- and perhaps rightly forgotten -- WWF card from April 23rd, 1983 at the Cap Centre. Be sure to watch along at home as you listen, by following the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCIQKfuENtg
January 8, 20169 yr Author comment_5719402 If you wait about an hour, I'm currently uploading a version of this to youtube with the audio laid over the video. We lose about 10 minutes of intro from the start, but otherwise, if this proves to have any interest, it could be a new thing we do.
January 8, 20169 yr comment_5719404 I'm pretty sure the early-'90s Pete Sanchez was a different guy, but I could be wrong. Edit: Kelly brings up the possibility two seconds after I hit Post. The '90s Sanchez was a tubby guy with a darker complexion.
January 8, 20169 yr comment_5719418 I listened to your show with Murdoch/O Connor and Dory/Brisco. I'm a sucker for those.
