Final word on this matter. According to cagematch, it appears that All Japan Summer Action Series Part II, ran from August 18, 1978 until September 14, 1978. There were no shows for the next 3 weeks (9/19 or 9/21). The new tour, Giant Series started October 6th.

This seems to have emerged since I made this thread and is just awesome. One of the absolute best Dory singles matches after the 70s. Loved it. Real intensity.

 

 

I totally second the endorsement of this. For my money it was the first truly great 80s match of the Houston footage, and an excellent showing from both guys. Dory's blank steeliness was perfect for how they worked this.
