Posted August 11, 201411 yr comment_5618345 Deep South TV at this time was funny because of the hour long show a good 30 minutes of the show was commercials and I think this was one of the last TV shows of the promotion. This starts with Nick Patrick interviewing Dewayne Bruce (future Buddy Lee Parker) & Bambi about Peggy Lee Leather & Karate Kid.Dewayne Bruce vs. Karate Kid (October 1988)Not sure who the Kid was here but he already beat Bruce once so this is a rematch with Bruce winning clean. Funny watching the future Buddy Lee Parker work the young fiery babyface gimmick. Then we get a promo from The Nightmare (Billy Starr) talking about taking the Deep South Tag Titles from Greg Evans & Richard Sartain and his ex-partner Nightmare #2 (Billy Starr)Bambi vs. Peggy Lee Leather (October 1988)I remember lots of redneck dudes who were in love with Bambi back in these days...if only they knew she was wrestling Peggy in the bedroom too. The finish was pretty awkward here as Bambi botched a cradle then there was a fast count. Peggy then bashed Bambi's head on the announce table where Nick Patrick & The Assassin were doing commentary afterwards.Next we get a promo from Peggy and Randy FUCKIN Rose who calls out Terry Gordy. The Night Riders vs. John Brewer & Doug Ogle (October 1988)Night Riders are supposed to be bikers from Chicago but they were Assassin trainees from Metro Atlanta. This was not good. Then we get a promo from Greg Evans & Richard Sartain with their Deep South Tag Titles and this is funny as these two rednecks stumble and fumble on this interview. These two would go on to become The Ding Dongs the next year for NWA.The Psychos vs. Troy Aldridge & Super Destroyer (October 1988)Psychos were Bob Brown & Dale Veasy IIRC and this Super D definitely ain't an Irwin brother. Psychos were in the Hunters gear but wearing hockey masks.Next we get promos from Nightmare #1, Rose, & Jim Boss.Nightmare #2 (Ted Allen) vs. Nightmare #1 (Billy Starr) (October 1988)Rose & Boss would come out after some decent action to help Nightmare #1 but the Psychos run out to counter them keeping this one-on-one. Nightmare #1 juices and there are some good punches thrown by Nightmare #2 throughout the match. Nightmare #1 eventually just walks off for a countout. Then we get a promo from Nightmare #2 & Psychos afterwards. Now they start airing random stuff.Deep South Heavyweight Title: Botswana Beast © vs. "Hot Shot" Joey Maggs (April 1987)Beast is out with his manager Rahma Brown better known as the legendary Snake Brown. Fun seeing Maggs working here. Deep South was healthier in this era as they had a fairly big crowd in a high school gym. This wasn't actually half bad as Beast was bumping around for Maggs who showed some potential. Rahma Brown would get involved and allowed Beast to hit a big legdrop to get the win.The Psycho (Bob Brown) vs. Steve Sampson (April 1987)This is JIP.Dewayne Bruce vs. Doug Ogle (August 1988)Randy Rose comes out to talk shit during the match. Good win for Bruce.Next we get a video for "Rock n Roll Rebel" Greg Evans set to Born to Boogie by Bocephus."Rock n Roll Rebel" Greg Evans & Richard Sartain vs. Jim Boss & Doug Ogle (August 1988)Evans & Sartain were the Assassin's star students at this time and they got a good push although they were very green.Deep South Heavyweight Title vs. US Heavyweight Title: "Ravishing" Randy Rose vs. The Psycho (Bob Brown) (August 1988)Title vs. Title here which I thought Deep South hyping their US Heavyweight Title as legit was hilarious. This was the best match I've seen so far on these shows but at that it's still just decent at best then you got the shitty but obvious finish when Nightmare #1 attacked Psycho but Nightmare #2 would make the save.
