October 28, 200520 yr comment_3782403 "This is probably the best defensive back that does not get the credit he should...I'll make sure he gets it this week." Johnson said. "There are two things for Al this week. The bad news is he has to cover me. The good news is he can save 10% by switching his insurance to Geico." How could you not like CJ is beyond me.
October 28, 200520 yr comment_3782423 If you're a hardcore football fan that lives and dies by seeing big hits, tough defense, and power running, then it's pretty easy to discard CJ as a mouthy wideout who needs to have his head knocked off.
October 28, 200520 yr comment_3782511 Not a knock, but a fairly accurate assessment of Steeler fandom, in my opinion. Pittsburgh's a working class town and they like teams that just grit their teeth and push forward. It's not just Pittsburgh either, more of an old school attitude. And Chad Johnson, with his end zone melodramatics, is way down on the other end of the spectrum.

November 18, 200520 yr comment_3951715 More CJ goodness (c'mon, the guy is entertaining as HELL): Dungy coached the AFC?s Pro Bowl team after the 2003 season, when the NFL was still stewing over Janet Jackson?s infamous halftime show at the Super Bowl. Justin Timberlake yanked off part of her top at the end of the show, embarrassing league officials. Johnson devised a touchdown celebration for his first Pro Bowl appearance that was a takeoff on the halftime controversy, but Dungy got him to change his mind. ?I cut a hole in my jersey and stitched it back together,? Johnson said Wednesday. ?When I scored, I was going to pull it open. He talked me out of that one. He was right. I didn?t want to tease the league like that.? Link me, please!
November 18, 200520 yr Author comment_3951920 CJ reminds me of one of those friends most of us have who are really entertaining for like the first hour or two of a night out, but after that you really wish they would just STFU after that.
November 18, 200520 yr comment_3952184 Troy Polamalu and Antonio Gates had an EXCELLENT matchup when the Steelers took on the Chargers... hard-hitting, rough... but a lot of respect. It was just beyond awesome to watch.
November 18, 200520 yr comment_3952188 Dammit. I was at the game working security, and I couldn't watch the game.
November 18, 200520 yr comment_3953010 Chad Johnson said he's going to have the best TD celebration ever this Sunday. Can't wait to see it.
November 18, 200520 yr Author comment_3953023 Meanwhile, you have one of the best WRs in NFL history on the other side of the field and I don't think he ever did a touchdown dance.
November 18, 200520 yr comment_3953444 What's the problem with TD dances? Chad Johnson is a funny guy; telling him that he's wrong in having fun is stupid.
November 18, 200520 yr Author comment_3953590 Because TD dances are ridiculous and egocentric, not to mention it's a show of poor sportsmanship to rub it in your opponent's face. I mean, if Barry Bonds broke into the electric slide every time he hit a home run, he'd get a fastball across his oversized melon on his next AB. If you score the winning TD, yeah there's gonna be some emotion, but not every TD requires 5 minutes of interpretive dance. Act like you've been there before.
November 18, 200520 yr comment_3953612 An electric slide would be hilarious; and he does sort of do that slow walk to first base thing. I don't see the problem, as long as it's creative, and funny. Chad Johnson's TD celebrations are both of those.
November 18, 200520 yr Author comment_3953673 Well I guess as long as a total lack of sportsmanship is funny, it's OK. Personally, I wish the refs would flag anything that's pre-planned and/or choreographed with a 15 yard penalty. I know by rule they're supposed to, after the famed Redskins dances that looked like a Broadway musical in shoulder pads, but it doesn't seem to happen much anymore.
November 19, 200520 yr comment_3955956 How is it a lack of sportsmanship? The endzone dance has nothing to do with the other team. Does Chad Johnson tape a picture of the CB he just scored on, on the football and start kicking it around? No. Sorry if it offends you grandma, but damn.
November 19, 200520 yr comment_3957167 Sek's just jealous because the Steelers have all the charisma and personality of a snail.
November 19, 200520 yr comment_3957189 I think pre-planned endzone celebrations are stupid because if you are scoring a TD it's an "in the moment" event. The fact that these guys have pre-planned end zone dances takes away from that. I'd rather see a guy genuinely celebrating after scoring a TD, then doing some retarded choreographed shit. However, I do enjoy when someone on the opposing team scores and mocks the guy who did the dance originally.
November 19, 200520 yr Author comment_3957203 I can be rightly accused of many things, but being jealous of TD dances is not one of them. Part of the reason I'm a fan of the Steelers is they don't put up with that kind of nonsense. The only time you see Hines Ward doing a TD dance is when he's mocking someone who was talking shit.
November 19, 200520 yr comment_3957209 Like I said before, it's just an old school mentality. I kind of feel that way too - not necessarily that an endzone celebration disgraces the other team, but that it overshadows the rest of the work that other teammates did in making the score happen; other lineman who sprung a good block, other receivers who demanded extra attention, the quarterback who made the perfect throw. Bill Simmons probably wrote the best column he's ever had about endzone celebrations and how they fit into the evolution of the wide receiver; if you didn't read it at the time, try and see if you can Google it up.
November 19, 200520 yr comment_3957221 Relax, I was joking. I can understand the mentality. I just think it's overreaction, but hey it got you guys talking about him, which is what he wanted.
November 20, 200520 yr comment_3963135 Which is why its stupid that the NFL banned team celebrations. Team celebrations would own.
