It's not an exact number, but I would argue that 21 of those are presented in a positive light and the rest are openly savaged or at the very least smirked at. I've a feeling the WWF/E OMG list had a higher percentage of positive moments.

 

Anyway, I'd like to compile a list of 50 genuinely positive OMG moments from WCW. Beginning from Nov 88 - I know this dvd cheated and went back to 85, but we'd be all day listing everything from NWA days. Suggestions?

 

I'm especially interested in the less discussed 1988-95 period.

That list is absolute garbage. Luger beating Hogan for the title on Nitro and Sting destroying everyone at Uncensored 97 are two of the best moments of the Monday Night Wars.

Who else was expecting this to be the Top 50 One Man Gang moments?

The Funk/Flair plastic bag segment is still one of the damnedest things I've ever seen in wrestling, especially for 1989. Really terrific atmosphere, full of chaos.

 

I assume "The Debut" 9/4/95 is Luger's, not just Nitro's. Both of those definitely fit the bill.

 

The Luger '97 title win got as big a pop as Goldberg's.

I'd argue Luger got a bigger pop.

What about when the Horsemen beat up Dusty in the parking lot?

 

What about when the Horsemen turned on Sting in 1990 and then again in 1995?

 

What about the Black Scorpion's magic tricks and the debut of Oz (both of them legit made me say "oh my god" recently)?

 

What about "SHE LIKES IT, SHE LIKES IT!"

 

What about Nikita decapitating David Crockett with a sickle?

 

What about the Rock n Roll Express turning up and winning the tag titles in a big upset vs. The Russians?

 

There are more, but there's a start.

To be fair, the OMG moments aren't the worst moments but the most shocking. Just because some of the moments on the list are great doesn't mean they didn't shock people.

Off the top of my head I was pretty shocked when Ron Simmons beat Vader for the belt.

Who else was expecting this to be the Top 50 One Man Gang moments?

I wanted to make that joke with writing a line like "One Man Gang beating Kensuke Sasaki for the US title" (funny thing is that the match actually was restarted and Sasaki won).

Wouldn't Mae Young hand birth and Katie Vick top the all time list?

By all accounts Ivan beating Bruno in 71 would top the all-time list probably followed by Brock beating Undertaker at mania. The "deadly silent" reaction is uber rare.

Ok, now I'm motivated to do a top 100 for each year of the 1990s.

As I watched this last night, Road Warriors turning on Sting during the six-man tag in '88.
