It's a babyface vs babyface match but the crowd is for the challenger.

The evolution of Verne in this match is interesting : it start with good sportmanship after McClarity tried the sleeper hold in the first minute. Then, he showed resiliency when McClarity spreads his legs and he does not want to quit or go the ropes : he tried differents things to make McClarity release the hold. But then, the crowd start booing the match (for lack of action). When McClarity had the armlock, Verne tried to "kangaroo" (a kick) and the crowd is agains him. He starts to be pissed and show he is the champion. I love his stomps when he applied the Toe Hold. The crowd hates it. He teases some closed punchs too.

The match was heating up but we only have the first fall !

I would have love to see how mcClarity reacts at Verne's tactics on the second fall.

  • GSR changed the title to [1954-08-06-Kohler Chicago] Verne Gagne vs Roy McClarity
