I figured I would post this here for my own sake, but also because others might find it useful. Here are things I want to brush up on before the vote in order of importance to me:

1. Pre-1980 wrestling (excepting Portland where I have seen all of the 70's footage fairly recently, and to a slightly lesser extent WWWF).

2. Joshi

3. 90's Lucha

4. FMW

5. U.S. Indies (really selected matches more than anything)

6. 00's Japan (see U.S. Indies)

7. Europe

1. Joshi

2. WOS

3. Pre 1980's stuff (watched bits a pieces here but would like to take in whole time frame and see where people like Dory, Destroyer etc feel right in being ranked)

4. 2000's indies (mainly for Bryan, Hero, Punk, Claudio)

5. rewatch the big All Japan stuff (good shot that Jumbo, Tenryu, Misawa, Kobashi, Kawada all are in my top 10-15)

6. Kurt Angle, HBK and Bret Hart matches

1. Comprehensive look at Flair (he could be my #35 or my #1. We'll see)

2. 70s and 80s Japan

3. Stan Hansen/Terry Funk

4. Europe (incl. England)

5. Joshi

6. Puerto Rico

...

...

15. Shootstyle.

...

...

21. Robert Fuller/Jimmy Golden

22. 00 Indies

...

...

29. Eric Embry

30. 90s and 00s Japan

The last one seems more and more like a painful chore everyday.

Does that mean you're not going to comment on those Joshi matches at all until you've completed priorities one through four?

Not at all. I'm going to jump around. I want to see some of the Liger you mentioned too and that's in my thirty. The numbering is a combo of ignorance, enthusiasm and importance in filling out my list.

I did say a couple of times when it was raised that with my real life and previous project commitments that I probably wouldn't be able to tackle joshi until January. But I do appreciate the primer you are starting and that will be my guide when I do.

1. Complete overview of 70s NWA champions (Dory, Harley, Brisco) - I am doing this both to give them their due and to try to point people towards anything they simply must check out. There is a *shitload* of Harley from the 70s.

2. Finish 80s sets - realistic

3. Finish 90s Yearbooks - since I have so far to go on this, I might have to start bee-lining to essential matches. The TOP priority for 90s are:

* The pimped All Japan - this is a very high priority

* Lucha - I guess not just for 90s but in general

* Revisiting Attitude era - something I'm not really looking forward to

4. 00s and 10s indies and majors worldwide

This is my major blind spot and to be honest something I have a very limited amount of interest in. However, I will need to do something, just to try to do some due diligence. I will likely need some help and guidance here on everyone from Angle to Daniel Bryan.

5. Brush up on key guys that I have a disposition towards really liking. For example, William Regal is in this boat.

Where to begin? As hyped as 90s AJPW is, it's something I am not all that interested in seeing. I should take a look at the DVDVR Remedial Thread before I do anything else.

But, there's so much more out there that is so much more interesting to me.

Lucha (past and present) Negro Casas, Hijo Del Santo, Blue Panther, Black Terry, LA Park, Los Misioneros De La Muerte, Satanico, El Dandy, young Atlantis. Basically, I need to save my pennies and buy Will's 80s lucha set! I also feel a cultural duty to better understand and appreciate my Mexican heritage.

Memphis: I find it such a refreshing change of pace to the ROH/PWG highspot/puroresu style that dominates US indy wrestling nowadays. By proxy, Jerry Lawler and Bill Dundee will be looked at.

Ric Flair: To be the man, you got to beat the man!

90s Juniors from NJPW: got to better inform myself on Jushin Lyger.

WCW post-Turner buyout.

JCP: I need to see more of Magnum TA.

Watts UWF: I need to watch more, and there's good DiBiase stuff that might get me to get on Parv's bandwagon.

World Class: Seeing the Von Erichs in their element, having Dallas in the palm of their hand.

Portland (if only to get a true taste of Buddy Rose's case for Best Ever)

Randy Savage

WWF New Generation: Bret Hart.

1950s Chicago archives: Lou Thesz, Verne Gagne, Buddy Rogers

WWWF: Bruno Sammartino. I really enjoy Memphis Lawler, perhaps I'll grow to appreciate Bruno's "less in more approach"

1990s-2000s US Independent Wrestling: Early Danielson, Zayn, Cesaro, Punk

JWA: Rikidozan.

Stan Hansen: Yes, this might force me to watch 90s AJPW, but I can explore his AWA, WWWF, and WCW runs first.

World of Sport

Terry Funk

Harley Race

Maybe find time for Joshi, which I don't know much about.

I'm sure I'm missing stuff too, but so much to explore.
