I remember loving Hayabusa back in the 90s, but it's been so long since I've seen footage of him. I recently saw his famous 90s ECW PPV tag match, and I wasn't super impressed, I wonder if he's a case of my nostalgia getting the better of me, but who knows if I'll get to any FMW footage before the year and a half is up.

Using Bahu's top 100 FMW matches list (and memory), in chronological order :

Hayabusa vs Hisakatsu Oya 8/31/95 (or the 6/27/95 match)

Mr. Gannosuke & Yukihiro Kanemura vs Hayabusa & Jinsei Shinzaki 12/19/97

Hayabusa vs Mr. Gannosuke 4/30/98

H (Hayabusa) & Mr. Gannosuke vs Masato Tanaka & Tetsuhiro Kuroda 12/12/99

Kodo Fuyuki vs Hayabusa 9/26/00

Hayabusa had a mystique and allure that even pulled in non-fans like my brother. We were at Heatwave '98 live and it felt like a major moment especially to those of us who swapped FMW and other Japan tapes back-and-forth at my high school. I've never been able to figure out the date but I remember seeing a match vs. Masato Tanaka that was worked more like Flair vs. Steamboat than anything else and went 20+ and post-match all the fans in the tiny building rushed ringside and were slapping the mat in praise. He'd probably make the tail-end of 200 but fall comfortably outside of my 100 ballot.

Hayabusa is a guy I need to watch more of. I've said before that I have a soft spot for guys in masks doing crazy flippydoes, and he's a good example of that. I enjoy him whenever I come across him.

Mainly I need to watch him more in FMW, because I wonder if he's a guy that I like as a novelty, a special attraction who goes into a NJ tag league or ECW or whatever and looks so cool because he's different.

I think he's a lot better when he's doing stuntshow stuff, whether that's flippy or deathmatchy, than when he decides to work like a b-rate version of an All Japan main eventer. I like how he looks but I don't think he carries himself well enough to maintain the mystique the look implies, the more I see him the less he seems like a larger than life figure
