Posted September 23, 201411 yr comment_5628076 This starts with Flair & Magnum joining Tony & David at the desk with Flair running smack on Magnum's wardrobe or lack thereof while Magnum says that he will get Flair in the ring. (5/4/85) Abby & Paul Jones are up next talking about their war with Valiant. Valiant is then out wearing his dog collar selling his throat injury and writing on the chalkboard. (5/4/85) "Boogie Woogie Man" Jimmy Valiant vs. Randy Barber (5/4/85) Total squash with Paul Jones doing commentary then afterwards Valiant chases Jones in the ring where he attacks him before being jumped by Abby before Magnum and others make the save. The Koloffs are out next wondering where Dusty and his gorilla are and Ivan also has mail from their admirers. Ole & Arn are out next with both National Tag Title belts as they won T-Bolt's belt from him and they are challenging everyone. Dusty then comes out with some bananas and he takes Tony over to Betty Lou where the gorilla is inside the cage. Dusty is amazing here and this is a slam dunk extra. "Nature Boy" Ric Flair vs. Rocky King (5/4/85) Magnum is doing commentary at ringside while Flair finishes Rocky off easily then he gets in Magnum's face and challenged him to face him then and there but as soon as Magnum gets in the ring Flair walks out saying that he doesn't want to embarrass him on national TV. Definite extra. Tully then comes out with his NWA TV Title and Baby Doll and he talks shit on Dusty. Dusty is out next eating bananas saying that he is getting off eating them and he said that the audience has named the gorilla Baby Doll #2. This is hilarious. Black Bart is out next challenging all the champions to face him in the ring. The Koloffs then come back out where they are bothered by the gorilla who is throwing bananas at them then he takes Ivan's headband as he comes close to him. Dusty then comes back out with his gorilla in Betty Lou and talks about how he wants his TV Title back. Dusty then talks about the gorilla is sad because he is missing his mother. Dusty then speaks to the gorilla in his own language. This is one of my favorite angles ever. The Koloffs are back out again still pissed about the gorilla who is jumping around besides them. Magnum then cuts a promo on Flair ducking him. Dusty is out with the gorilla and Betty Lou again and he has some fresh bananas as well then tells the gorilla that he has flown his mother in so of course Dusty comes back with a gorilla wearing an old woman's hat. Tony Schiavone is laughing his ass off as Dusty is just insane. Slam dunk extra. (5/11/85) "Nature Boy" Ric Flair vs. Ron Rossi (5/11/85) Total domination by Flair and he cuts a promo afterwards talking about all challengers as well as taking veiled shots at the WWF. Next we get the Valiant's War promo with Valiant in facepaint ripping off Dusty's War promo on Kabuki in 1981. Definite Extra. The Minnesota Wrecking Crew (Arn & Ole Anderson) & Bob Roop vs. Italian Stallion, "Mad Dog" Buzz Sawyer, & Pistol Pez Whatley (5/11/85) Quite the interesting 6-man here. This had some good back and forth action with both teams making lots of quick tags and trading the advantage at a very fast pace. Everyone got their time to shine and it was very competitive although I think everyone knew that Stallion would do the job which he did. The armwork on Stallion while he was FIP was so good as Roop made a perfect partner for the Andersons style. The finish would come after a 6-way brawl where Ole would come off the top with a knee to Stallion who had Roop pinned and then he pinned Stallion even though he wasn't the legal man. Still a pretty fun match but not a nomination although in some other categories this might qualify. Flair then comes back out and says the fans are soft and spoiled before calling out everyone again. Dillon then comes out talking about Landell being Flair's shadow and that it's catching up to him and this is followed up by the Budro video. Magnum them comes out talking about the great competition and is then asked about the deal with Flair the week before which brings Flair out and he talks shit to Magnum again before walking off. All the Flair/Magnum stuff is extra material no doubt. Dusty then follows them for more of the gorilla saga and the gorilla is out of the cage. Magnum then starts the next show with Flair following him and more of the same from the past couple of weeks follow. (5/18/85) Then we get another Black Bart promo and he wants Ronnie Garvin's National Title. "Nature Boy" Ric Flair vs. Sam Houston (5/18/85) Magnum is on commentary and Flair is in full showoff mode because of it. Flair doesn't take Houston seriously at all and thinks it will be a piece of cake but Sam is pumped up because of Flair's disrespect with Magnum pumping Sam up on commentary. Flair is so good at making Houston look like he could beat him and the story told in this match is great. Flair gets pissed at Houston for putting up such a fight and just beats the piss out of him then after the match he tries to break his leg with the figure-four so Magnum comes in the ring and breaks the hold himself. Flair then shoves Magnum and Magnum takes his shirt off but Flair walks off. Valiant then cuts a promo and he has his full voice back and he talks about his war some more. Dusty Rhodes is out next with his former gorilla Dick Slater who was revealed at The Omni the Sunday before and I fucking loved Slater the babyface....Slater is the template for Dean Ambrose. Extra material. Flair is then back out and said he will take care of Magnum and anyone else that gets in his way. Flair then talks shit on everyone especially Landell saying that he gets his clothes from K-Mart and this is glorious. Definite extra. Magnum then comes back out and he is intense wanting to take Flair's title. Paul Jones then comes out and goes off on the fans for chanting Paula then talks about Tully buying Abby to take care of Dusty. Tully & Baby Doll are out next talking about the clips of him vs. Garvin from the Omni on 5/12 that aired right before them. The Andersons then come out and cut a promo on Bull & T-Bolt again with Ole talking shit on Bill Watts, Andre the Giant, Bruno Sammartino, & Wahoo for some reason. Dusty & Tully then have a confrontation at the desk and Baby Doll gets in his face saying that she wants him to tip his hat to her and he said that he doesn't see a lady. Dusty is great here. Dusty then cuts a promo on Flair & Tully wanting their titles and he takes veiled shots at the WWF. Sawyer & Slater are out next talking about going after the National Tag Titles. Dusty & Slater then come out talking about their battles with the Russians with clips of their match at The Omni on 5/12 and this had a Dusty Finish. (5/25/85) Magnum TA vs. Larry Clarke (6/1/85) Squash. Flair then comes out and he cuts one of his classic promos here talking all kinds of shit on everything and everyone then showing his career highlights. Flair then brings out the suit he wants to give Magnum. Slam dunk extra. (6/1/85)
