Posted September 24, 201411 yr comment_5628252 This starts with Flair coming out and he cuts one of his classic promos here talking all kinds of shit on everything and everyone then showing his career highlights. Flair then brings out the suit he wants to give Magnum. Slam dunk extra. (6/1/85) "Nature Boy" Ric Flair vs. George South (6/1/85) Flair is hyped up kinda like the Houston match but he takes a different approach to this one as he takes South out with relative ease as Magnum comes out to the commentary position and checks out the suit that Flair brought him. After the match, Flair celebrates and is glad that Magnum likes the suit but Magnum rips it up as soon as he gets in the ring which pisses off Flair who tries to jump him but eats a belly-to-belly suplex and lays Flair's belt on top of him. Slam dunk extra. Dusty then comes out talking about what just happened and he predicts a title change. Black Bart & Ronnie Garvin then get into a altercation at the desk and Bart challenges him to a Loser Leaves Town match for the National Heavyweight Title next week and Garvin accepts. (6/1/85) The Andersons come out next and they talk shit on Ronnie Garvin & Buzz Sawyer with Ole saying that Buzz couldn't make a pimple on a dog's butt. The Minnesota Wrecking Crew (Arn & Ole Anderson) vs. Mark Cooper & Alan Martin (6/1/85) Buzz comes out pissed off about what Ole said and he tells Alan Martin to leave taking his spot on the corner. Buzz then attacked the Andersons until it became 2-on-1 before Dick Slater ran out to make the save. Next we get clips of Garvin vs. Ron Bass from 5/25/85. Then we get a promo from the Russians about their 6-Man Cup and the challengers as well as their issues with Dusty & Slater. Sawyer & Slater then start the next show demanding the Andersons fight them but that doesn't happen so they talk shit on them. Buzz is especially great here talking about his family. (6/1/85) Bull cuts a promo next wanting some gold and calls out all the champions. (6/8/85) NWA World TV Title: Tully Blanchard © vs. Mark Hawk (6/8/85) Dusty is at ringside doing commentary for this and he talks about having cracked ribs. Baby Doll talks shit on Dusty while Tully loses Hawk as he tries the Slingshot Suplex and Tully gets pissed off stomping Hawk hard on the floor. Dusty then enters the ring hitting Tully with the bionic elbow before Baby Doll rakes him in the eyes and Tully goes after the ribs. Brett Sawyer makes his debut next talking about Buzz having his eye injured by the Andersons. Arn Anderson vs. Larry Clarke (6/8/85) Brett does commentary for the match and you know something is about to go down. Arn destroys Clarke and calls out Brett saying where is Buzz at which leads to a brawl where Arn takes Brett out with a gourdbuster on the floor. Slater then comes out to help and Arn attacks him too which leads to an enraged Buzz coming out fresh from the shower and he goes nuts. Arn is a fucking lunatic here and he had to have given Brett a concussion with the kick right in the head. This is a fantastic angle and a slam dunk extra. Loser Leaves Town Match for the National Heavyweight Title: "Hands of Stone" Ronnie Garvin © vs. Black Bart (6/8/85) Tully does commentary here. Garvin comes into this with an injured right hand after punching the belt two weeks ago when he was trying to KO Bart so it's easy pickings for Bart. Garvin though is a tough bastard and fights through it using other forms of offense other than his patented right hand. Garvin also decides to return the favor to Bart as he works over Bart's right arm and hand in specific while the fans chant "BREAK IT." After some good back and forth action Garvin nailed Bart with his injured right hand and pinned Bart for the 3 count but Bart's foot was on the bottom rope. Baby Doll then goes to Bart and gave him Tully's loaded elbowpad to KO Garvin to win the title. This was a damn good match and moves forward fairly easily. Dusty is out next talking about what happened with Garvin and his battles with Tully. Bart then comes out with his National Title and said he told everyone what he was going to do and he did it. Buzz & Slater are out next talking about the deal with Brett earlier and Buzz cuts a passionate promo about what happened. This is good stuff. Arn then comes out gloating about what he did to Brett earlier. Flair then comes out and takes more veiled shots at the WWF saying this ain't Rock & Roll or Hollywood this is pro wrestling. Flair then says that he is going to make Nikita his personal gardener which was a great line then calls out Magnum before turning his focus to Buddy Landell who was in the ring and said he was available anytime. This was great. Extra material. (6/8/85) NWA World Tag Titles: Ivan & Nikita Koloff © vs. "American Dream" Dusty Rhodes & "Mr. Unpredictable" Dick Slater (5/13/85) This is the match from The Omni where Dusty brought out his gorilla which was Slater and when he unmasked in the ring the fans went apeshit. At this time on the Sunday show they would show some of the big matches from The Omni and it blows my mind why they didn't do that every week thereafter. The faces dominate the match early working over Ivan and his left leg. There is a clip in the action when they go to break as Slater is working over Ivan still but we come back and Nikita is in the ring working over Slater which is a detraction for sure. Slater is good at playing FIP and Dusty is great trying to get in there to help him before Slater locks on a figure-four on Ivan on the bad left leg they worked on earlier. Nikita would break it up and that would bring Dusty back in where they would go to the floor to battle. Slater & Ivan are in the ring battling it out while Tommy Young got bumped to the floor. Slater would suplex Ivan from the apron to the ring and Mike Fever would run out to make the count before Tommy Young came in the ring and said that Slater threw Ivan over the top rope and it was a DQ so the Dusty Finish makes it's debut at The Omni. The fans are apeshit for the faces as they leave with Atlanta's finest trying to stop them. This fucking sucks for me because if we had the lost part of this match then I could nominate the match but damn I can't. Buzz then cuts another passionate promo about his brother being injured by the Andersons. (6/15/85) Magnum cuts a promo on Flair saying that he will win his title very soon. (6/15/85) Tony then explains why Dusty isn't at TV today and they show the angle where Baby Doll wearing a wig threw a fireball in his face in Greensboro on 6/8/85. Dusty first though cuts a promo in his office listening to some David Allan Coe and talks about them trying to take away his livelihood which is tough because he has a 2-year-old son (Cody) at home he has to take care of. Dusty is extremely pissed and says that he will take out Tully. Definite extra. Flair is out next where he has a moment of silence for the Boston Celtics who just lost to Flair's beloved Los Angeles Lakers in the 1985 NBA Finals. Flair is great here talking shit. National Tag Titles: The Minnesota Wrecking Crew (Arn & Ole Anderson) © vs. Italian Stallion & Joe Lightfoot (6/15/85) Lightfoot gets a title shot in his debut which is something but he was a favorite of Ole's going back to GCW. The faces put up a small fight here but the Andersons dominate them fairly easily. "Ragin Bull" Manny Fernandez vs. The Barbarian (5/25/85) This was from Charlotte and aired on the Sunday show and it's a little JIP to start but it looks like we don't miss much. Bull uses his ring smarts to keep Barbarian from getting the advantage early as Paul Jones goes nuts on the floor. Bull would then work over Barbarian's left arm a good bit before Barbarian would lock him in a bearhug and then went to a clubbering style of offense to dominate Bull. It didn't last very long though before Bull made a comeback or so it seemed as he missed a running body press in the corner and hit all turnbuckle. Barbarian then gets some nearfalls on Manny before Manny would sneak in an inside cradle out of nowhere to get the win. I thought this was an extremely fun match and this is a fairly easy nomination. Then we get a promo from Dusty a couple of weeks before he got blinded about Tully needing to take care of him himself and not with help from Abdullah the Butcher or anyone else.
