This was a Vince Russo thing that was supposed to set up the Austin-Jarrett feud, but Austin didn't think Jarrett was over enough to do a feud at that level, and Vince and Jim Ross agreed with him. He says no one can see the puppies until he starts getting more respect. A bandaged Austin runs out and makes quick work of Jarrett before getting on the mic and calling on Undertaker. He wants a match between the two tonight - no rules. Big Show interrupts to convince Austin that Undertaker has recruited Kane. We've seen this hype before. Show suggests teaming with Austin against Undertaker and Kane tonight. Jarrett tries to cut another promo as Austin is walking away and eats another stunner for his efforts. This was the beginning of the end of Jeff Jarrett in the WWF.

Another segment that's even more heated than you might think--somehow Show's promo gets over. Unless they changed the segment after Austin turned down the program I have no idea how this is supposed to set up Jarrett vs. Austin as anything besides a throwaway TV bout, because Austin emasculates Jeff pretty effectively here.

  • GSR changed the title to [1999-07-12-WWF-Raw] Steve Austin and Jeff Jarrett
