Posted October 20, 200519 yr comment_3718610 So it looks like after 4 years of various highs and lows, World Domination Inc., one of the strangest and most interesting messageboards out there has finally passed away. My understanding is that due to lack of activity, The Flying Dutchman decided to pull the plug. First The Original Smarkboard Then this board's predecessor, SNKT. Now WDI. It's a tiny bit sad for those of us who have been around this circle of friends. I know that WDI had it's fans and it's detractors, but you can't deny that in it's day, WDI was a busy place to go and hang out with your friends online. I guess a combination of age, apathy, long-standing online feuds, and real life catching up to people was too much in the end. There were countless hilarious conversations which took place over there over the past four years, but in memoriam I present to you one of my favorites. This is a small chat between LaParkaEsMiPapa, netslob, MasterofTheIronClaw, Witty Banter, Cam Chaos, and myself. LaParkaEsMiPapa: You can just call me Darrell MasterofTheIronClaw: ok then Darrell Cam Chaos: can i call you Gooch? LaParkaEsMiPapa: No netslob: Can I call you Maxx Payne? TheThreadKiller: Can I call you sweety? LaParkaEsMiPapa: Hey, my second grade teacher was named Mrs. Gooch?but no. Witty Banter: can I call you Scnookums? netslob: Man Mountain Rock? LaParkaEsMiPapa: I'm not sweet netslob: Darrey-Baby? LaParkaEsMiPapa: Well, Man Mountian Rock, maybe Cam Chaos: Can I call you the morning after when I need to pick up my soiled underwear from your bedroom lampshade? LaParkaEsMiPapa: No Cam Chaos: but it's my only pair RIP WDI, and thanks Dutch.
October 22, 200519 yr comment_3734188 I honestly forgot about the possibility of the place still being opened. I don't think it really ever was as good as the first six months it was open.
October 22, 200519 yr comment_3734989 My understanding is that due to lack of activity, The Flying Dutchman decided to pull the plug. Pretty much. The few people who were left stop posting regularly and since it was costing Dutch money we ended up saying our goodbyes and closing up. I had alot of fun at WDI (after the stupidity of the gheyvasion), both on the board and in the WDI chat. I'm going to miss it but everyone is around on AIM still. RIP WDI.
October 22, 200519 yr comment_3736058 I never cared for the board itself. I enjoyed some of the threads but never felt the need to post on a regular basis. The few guys from there I liked (CJ, MIB, Loss, Bruiser) post here or are on my AIM list.

The few guys from there I liked (CJ, MIB, Loss, Bruiser) post here or are on my AIM list. Ditto. I thought SNKT v.1 killed that board a long time ago anyway. I had no idea it was still hanging on, on life support like this for so long. RIP Terri Schiavo, Jr. aka WDI
October 22, 200519 yr comment_3736538 WDI had successful periods after SNKT was around. The last time was around a year ago but SQL errors managed to drive the majority of posters away.
October 23, 200519 yr comment_3736983 Former members of SNKT are very familiar with those same problems and those very results.
October 23, 200519 yr comment_3738501 Part of me is sad to see WDI go, since it introduced me to pretty much everyone here (directly or indirectly). However, I can't help but comment that in the end, WDI became what it was created to rebel against. While not as ham-handed as the old smarksboard, WDI ended up the same clique-ridden wasteland all message boards seem doomed to become. Everything became such an inside joke that new posters wouldn't know what anyone was talking about. I don't want to speak ill of the recently passed, so I'll just give a tip of the robotic hat to WDI for introducing me to the coolest people on the net *cheap pop*.
October 25, 200519 yr comment_3754396 I also thought the place ended a along time ago. Perhaps the fact that everybody thought it was dead and gone was the reason nobody went there. Who was still posting there? Where will they go?
October 25, 200519 yr comment_3755618 They did still have their own community going long after most of us left. The board became something that really wasn't my cup of tea, but our absence isn't what derailed it. Maybe some of the people from WDI that I do miss conversing with will show up here or at least make themselves known.
