I kinda like HHH's look at this point. He wants to speak to Linda McMahon. His point of view is that since Austin technically forfeited his chance at the title tonight, he needs to start at the bottom of the ladder. Linda won't say that and he starts bullying her, but she won't take it. He puts his hands on her, which prompts the return of VINCE to TV to confront HHH, as the WWF is prepared to go all in to get HHH over as a top guy. He cuts a scorched Earth promo on HHH for putting his hands on Linda and is ready to take off his jacket and fight. Right then, Austin's music starts and he comes to the ring to go right after HHH. Vince takes off with Linda and HHH flies around all over the ring for Austin in a very fun brawl. The title match is officially underway, but they are both in street clothes, which makes it pretty cool. Austin ends up going after HHH's knee with the chair and Hebner intervenes and gets punched for it, which gives HHH a chance to try to hobble off. The match is thrown out. This segment is awesome. For some reason, the cage lowers, so Austin tosses HHH inside and gives him a stunner. 1999 WWF was very big on unexplained production assistance in angles, but this was great in spite of that. One of my favorite WWF segments of the year.

Awesome segment, crash TV at its best. Crowd going crazy the entire time. Great set-up for Vince's return (whatever you think of the idea itself), great promo from Vince, nice brawl with Austin and Triple H. Triple H sure can sell when he wants to.

Vince coming back makes total sense and doesn't feel cheap, then or now. Everyone is great here, including Ross who has one of his best calls of the year. Austin pisses away the WWF title but it's done in a way where you can't really blame him, as he pays back HHH for what he did to him at SummerSlam. I can get behind this HHH, a champion of ability and cunning but also one who stooges and sells for his babyface opponent as necessary.

Vince is the man. I feel like Triple H sounds like a cross between his Greenwich snob gimmick and The Game. He does not fully sound like Triple H yet. I really like how they are going all in on Triple H. He is the most over heel in the WWF since Vince. I think Vince coming back as a babyface to stand up to HHH was the best way to give HHH that seal of approval. Building a strong heel after a year and half of Vince makes sense. Vince is great as a pissed off babyface protecting his woman. I loved how he called HHH a son of a bitch. Throw his jacket in his face. Austin's beatdown of HHH was glorious. Great bumping by HHH. Stupid Russo bullshit aside like ringing the bell to start a match that does not exist and then ringing it at the end of the beatdown was dumb. Austin was on fire liked him attacking HHH's legs with a chair as revenge and a stunner sends us home. GREAT!
