HHH with another new look! HHH looks down at the ground the whole time and talks with an odd inflection in his voice. He was definitely still finding himself. HHH wants Ross to come in the ring and Jim Ross actually has a memory for a change and refuses to do it. Ross eventually comes to the ring because he knows he doesn't have a choice. HHH points to an interview Ross did with Austin the previous Friday where he reveals that he will be at No Mercy even though he hasn't been medically cleared. HHH asks Ross what Austin thinks of him and Ross doesn't want to say. Finally, Ross is able to say that Austin thinks HHH is an asshole, which gets a HUGE pop and starts a massive "asshole!" chant. Then HHH turns the tables and wants to know what Jim Ross thinks of him. Ross calls him a sorry, low down SOB. HHH responds to that by clotheslining Ross out of his chair and then laying in some stiff looking kicks. Refs come in to pull HHH off of him. While I do wish they'd stop using Jim Ross physically in angles to get over the top heel, this was a great angle and segment.

Man Vince really loves beating up JR angles. I liked this as JR didn't back down and HHH does his best Stan Hansen with that lariat. So had HHH and Chyna officially broken up by this time? I know she's feuding with Jarrett as a babyface. HHH's voice is still so nasally here compared to how he sounds now.

Great angle here with HHH getting his feet under him as a heel. The delivery from Ross to the asshole name was great. HHH vs Austin is being set up well.

Austin has now suddenly "not yet been cleared" to wrestle, so it's like we hit a reset button on the Austin injury angle from SummerSlam. HHH does a good job of disingenuously apologizing and inviting Ross into the ring. Good segment that nicely descends into chaos with HHH being a supreme dick but not a totally masturbatory one.
