WWE hasn’t been kind to this man but he does have a career before that that isn’t super short with some cool stuff. Good as an underdog and good as an exciting ball of energy, also I like when he screams for no reason putting on a headlock or whatever.

What I watched for this so far and my match ratings

Akira Tozawa vs Chris Hero (05/09/10) ****¼
Akira Tozawa vs BxB Hulk (30/01/11) ***½
Akira Tozawa & Kevin Steen vs El Generico & Ricochet (27/05/11) ***¾
Naruki Doi & Ricochet vs BxB Hulk & Akira Tozawa (21/07/13) ***¼
Akira Tozawa vs Eita (11/05/16) ****
Akira Tozawa vs Gran Metalik (26/08/16) ***¾

Akira Tozawa is such an interesting case of a wrestler, one of the best wrestlers and most likable wrestlers in the 2009-2010s (I ranked 6th best wrestler of the 2010s last year) sandwiched an odd gimmick in Dragon Gate and WWE not really showcasing him much for reasons I am not sure off. He has a lot of fun matches and is very charismatic but, theres also a great sense of heart and emotionally connectivity. When he gets chances to showcase himself he does well and comes across as big effort, I enjoyed his match against Jinder Mahal on Main Event last year (he proabably has more fun matches on Main Event that I just havent seen yet) and a fun squash against Gunther this year. He also holds a a special place in my heart because he was the main event of the first indie show I was a part of (New Wave Pro Wrestling vs. Locura).

I think he will make my list.
