March 5, 20214 yr comment_5941312 It's the mindset in Japan, they still have that "make your dates" mentality that the territory guys used to have. You do every show unless you're completely incapable.

March 6, 20214 yr comment_5941330 I think Shibata had a torn rotator cuff up until he was forced to retire.

March 6, 20214 yr comment_5941360 "Shingo understands the importance of pulling his trunks over his belly-button." See? This is why I don't review the pro-wrestling. It's Okada-Shingo, a match I'm pumped for, and that's all I've got. (Good match so far, winner still in doubt, crowd right into it.)
March 6, 20214 yr comment_5941363 Yanking one's tights up as high as possible always befuddled me. Never understood why Misawa kept doing it.

March 6, 20214 yr comment_5941375 Easily the best Cup show so far, three really good matches with Okada-Shingo being predictably excellent. Spoiler I've got Shingo going all the way in the tournament. Feels like a guy who they want to push and would get some rub from winning the tournament, he's a big enough deal to be Ibushi's first defense of the new title, while also not quite being big enough that they'd want to hold the match for a bigger show.

Spoiler That's what I'm hoping, even though I pegged Okada to win. It makes sense too with Shingo having pinned Ibushi in the G1.
March 7, 20214 yr comment_5941435 Shingo-Okada was great although not quite on the level of their G1 match. Shingo was a monster on offense and Okada sold everything spectacularly. A bit too many Money Clips but all in all easily the best match of the tournament thus far.
March 7, 20214 yr comment_5941438 Yeah, great match. Okada's bumping and selling was something else. With all due respect, it blew away Tanahashi's match with Takagi. Forget EVIL and SANADA, this is the guy you want to push toward the top now, he's got everything going for him. Honma vs Suzuki was everything you'd expect and more. Honma doesn't look like his old self, he moves funny at times, but they really beat the hell out of each others and how many years Suzuki can keep up at being this great ? KENTA vs Juice was kinda there for a while then turned out quite good in the end. KENTA's troll clapping is funny heel stuff.
March 7, 20214 yr comment_5941453 I actually wasn't as high on those other two matches today. But I caught up on Taichi-Goto and that was quite good.
March 16, 20214 yr comment_5942752 Shingo is the best wrestler in the world atm and I honestly don't think it's close. Another great match today against KENTA.
March 20, 20214 yr comment_5942996 NJ Cup semi-finals interrupted by 7.0 earthquake in the middle of Bullet Club vs Tana, Okada, Ibushi*. Everyone fine, I believe they're checking the building for structural damage before continuing. Don't see that everyday, thankfully. *Epicentre was Sendai, not the six-man...
March 20, 20214 yr comment_5943023 I liked Ospreay/Finlay. Solid story with the underdog favourite Finlay taking on the guy with a well publicised new mean streak. Finlay hurts his ankle and I liked the spot where Ospreay removed his boot whilst in the figure four.
March 21, 20214 yr comment_5943037 Finlay-Ospreay was great. This whole tournament has been a really good showcase for him. Really happy he finally got a win over Jay after all these years. Main event tomorrow should be excellent. Pulling for Shingo as there's already history with him beating Ibushi in the G1. Not that I expect him to the win the title, but him winning the tournament would be an awesome show of confidence after how well he's done the past 2 years.
March 21, 20214 yr comment_5943048 Love or loathe him, when Will Ospreay is in Holy Shit Mode, you find yourself saying Holy Shit. That Pumping fucking Bomber sell...add the ever-captivating Shingo and I haven't taken my eyes off of this. The right man won, IMO.
March 21, 20214 yr comment_5943049 Yeah but him hitting the cutter on Bea was certainly an interesting choice.
March 21, 20214 yr comment_5943053 Man, Gedo really has lost the plot if he's recycling 2005 Randy Orton angles.
March 21, 20214 yr comment_5943055 I'm not the biggest Ospreay fan but he had a hell of a tournament. I gather he was probably expected to win going in but after watching his three matches in the final three rounds of this tournament I'm a little more on board with it.

If nothing else it's extremely tone deaf to have Will of all people do a "I'm so serious I'll abuse my girlfriend to prove it" angle. All that was missing was David Crockett yelling SHE LIKES IT TONY!
March 21, 20214 yr comment_5943069 It's a bad look to have Will do the angle but why even do it when you know you can't get the response from the crowd you want? Pure foolishness.
March 23, 20214 yr comment_5943312 YOH is coming back at Sakura Genesis. Not a doctor, but coming back 10 months removed from an ACL injury seems pretty miraculous.
