Sting vs. Ron Simmons (8/14/89)

It's the battle of the future WCW champs again and these two put on a pretty damn good little match here as both men were improving especially Sting who was starting to come into his own at this time. Simmons was really good at using his power offense to keep Sting on defense and Sting did a good job of selling everything plus the finish was cute as Sting got a schoolboy on Simmons after he brought him back in the ring from the floor. I'm going to push this forward as a low-end nomination.

This is also on the Sting DVD. I thought this was fun. In the end I'll go no. Though there's a lot of good stuff. I liked Simmons performance here. It might have been a little out of character. I loved how he kicked Sting while he's doing his scream to gain the early advantage. Simmons playing a cheating heel was interesting. I loved how when Simmons was on offense he would be real aggressive. Yet when Sting was taking it too him he took some fun stooging bumps. He would beg off, use the ropes for leverage etc. So it was kinda cool to see this mesh of coward and bad ass. I thought Sting was solid here. If Sting stepped his game up a little I would have gone yes.
