We understand Vince a little better now than we did then, so I'd bet that Vince's frustration with the media is a big part of why Snow got his push around this time. Fun match. The wrestling is slowly getting better without Russo around, interestingly enough. Snow and Mankind win the tag titles. The Hollys fight with each other after the match, which was always fun. Post-match has a funny locker room celebration with the babyfaces pouring milk on Snow. Mankind asks to leave because he has some business to take care of and goes on the hunt for Val Venis. he ends up at a strip club and keeps opening peep show booths looking for Val. Funny stuff. "Kay Parker movie! She's still around?" Mankind finally makes it outside only to find his car being towed. He's stranded at the strip club. Back at the arena, Snow is still going on and on about how great his victory was. Val Venis takes the opportunity to attack him from behind. So Val made Mick think he left the building when he didn't.
August 16, 201510 yr comment_5692147 I remember that head controversy. Such a big deal out of nothing. Good match. Loved the 800 pound Holly cousins. Mankind was at his best at the strip club. Peep shows, Kay Parker name drops and running with quarters dropping from his pockets.
February 6, 20169 yr comment_5725677 Ha, lots of fun stuff in this segment. Match was pretty good and the post-match stuff was a lot of fun, from Snow with the milk to Foley looking for Val. As to the commentators addressing the action figure controversy, even 1999 WWF stands a level above tendentious postmodern cultural critique in terms of seriousness and respectability.
December 11, 20177 yr comment_5823703 The Hollys are surprisingly effective at working basic heel tag formula stuff. Again, a match gets a little time to breathe with a focus on in-ring psychology. Surprisingly fun, and yeah, there's no doubt Snow winning a tag title was a direct reaction to the action figure stuff. Foley is pretty fun bouncing around strip joints and peep shows and porno stores looking for Val, especially when he tries to bribe a manager with a $1 bill (then yanks it back from a stripper when he decides to look elsewhere). But Val's been at the arena the whole time as Al Snow finds out. Incidentally this might be the only instance I can think of where Mick Foley's actually *wearing* a title belt.
