I wasn't sure how I'd like this one since it was much shorter than the original '97 version and I didn't see how they could accomplish so much in 23 minutes. But they did! This was a shot to the arm of a tired wrestling fan, and there seemed to be something cool happening practically every second of this, be it the cheating, highspots or even Santo's terrific performance gutting it out at the end. I think this is now my favorite Cibernetico matches, and it's also quite easily one of the best matches of the year.

This was alright but I didn't like it as much as Loss. Too much Olimpico, Tarzan boy and not enough Negro Casas and Blue Panther. Some great dives in this from Black Warrior, Santo and even Emilio. The finish was Ultimo and Santo was real good.

Okay so the 16 participants began by having half a Battle Royal. The 8 men who were eliminated then faced the 8 who weren't in a Cibernetico elimination match. So the topic title isn't strictly accurate but I'm not volunteering to correct it.

Now if you're the type of fan who is worried about knowing exactly what is going on at all stages then why are you watching wrestling in a language you don't understand this may not be for you. It's pretty much impossible to keep track of who is on which team and what the score is. Just sit back and watch lots of Luchadores flying about at lightening speed. There were plenty of exciting moves and it was enjoyable. There were also numerous flaws. It was too compressed to fully do the format justice. I counted 3 near falls where either the ref or the wrestlers got it wrong. With so many people and that many eliminations in a short time frame there were moments of confusion. It needed either more time or less people. In the end it came down to Santo against Ultimo Guerrero. My hero went on to win the Leyenda de Plata, so all was right in Arena Mexico. Overall I liked this a fair bit, but it was a mixed bag.

I liked this but it didn't register as a MOTYC quality match to me. Good stuff with fast paced action all around and a couple fantastic dives. This ref sure wasn't about to count a fall on a fisherman's suplex. Ultimo Guerrero's reverse suplex is horrifying in this one.

Same with Tim and the other tim here. This was fun, as the Cibernetico formula seems almost foolproof, but that's it--it's a popcorn match. And some of the officiating even by lucha standards was terrible--that extended sequence with Tarzan Boy trying to put Bestia Salvaje away and continually failing was cringeworthy. Still, outside of that the action never stops and you're never more than about 20 seconds away from a new guy coming in to freshen the match up. Good closing sequence with a little more substance to it than the rest of the match. And Negro Casas is still incredible--he might have the best move execution of any wrestler in history.
