This is another one of those Flair vs. Underneath guy matches, but better. Flair works the match it has a lot of similarities to his matches with Steamboat. Flair is making Santana look like a million bucks here. Flair gets real aggressive on the outside. He delivers an awesome atomic knee breaker on the guard rail. He brings him in and goes to work on the leg. Eventually he locks in the Figure 4. Santana is fighting it every step of the way. In a great moment it looks like Santana is about to turn it, but Flair grabs the rope and keeps his leverage. Santana can't survive any longer is counted 3.

"Nature Boy" Ric Flair vs. Ricky Santana (3/5/88)

This is a special challenge match by Santana to see if he is ready for a title shot. Santana is very spunky early on taking the battle to Flair who is so good in situations like this making guys look like a million bucks. Flair would go on offense and he would take it to Santana and this is where Flair looked like the world champion as he had complete control. Santana then made a comeback and he had Flair reeling but it was odd watching the fans basically boo him and root for Flair. Santana decked Dillon though which popped the crowd and then they brawled on the floor where Flair dropped him knee first on the railing. Flair then just brutalized Santana's left leg before locking on the Figure-Four but Santana fought hard until Flair grabbed the ropes for leverage and Tommy Young counted the pin. Sting then shows up and tells him that Flair grabbed the ropes which started a brawl involving Tully until Luger & Windham ran them out. Very fun TV match that should move on as a low-end nomination.
