Posted October 31, 200520 yr comment_3803872 I was thinking one day of cities where every team they field has won a championship, and I realized that there really wasn't that many. Most multi-sport cities have at least one team that has never won a title and most of the cities that have a title in every sport has one team that hasn't won in decades. For example: Every New York team has won a championship, but the Jets haven't won since 1969 and the Knicks haven't won since 1970. Other cities that have won in every sport they field a team in: Detroit Chicago Philadelphia Pittsburgh Boston (do you count the Patriots as a Boston team? They still qualify either way) Kansas City (only have two teams) Oakland Portland (only has the Blazers) Anyone think of any others?
October 31, 200520 yr comment_3804050 I don't think you can count Portland since they are only a one-sport team. If that was the case, then you could throw San Antonio in there as well.
October 31, 200520 yr comment_3804237 If it's narrowed down to just MLB, NBA, NFL, and NHL, then throw Ottawa in there as the only Canadian city on the list, if you count the Stanley Cup championships that the original Senators won back in the day. Again, though, they'd fall under the Portlands and San Antonios of this discussion.
October 31, 200520 yr comment_3804245 Oh, and throw in Dallas in the group, unless people count the Texas Rangers as a "Dallas" team.
October 31, 200520 yr comment_3804287 If you count CFL teams, you can throw Calgary and Edmonton into the mix. Maybe Montreal, too, now that the Expos are gone.

Maybe Montreal, too, now that the Expos are gone.Nope, pre-existing teams that didn't win anything still hurt the city in this, IMO. If that were the case, using the CFL case, you could throw in Vancouver (they also won a Stanley Cup in 1915) and Winnipeg into the mix. Regina, too, in fact (they'd qualify anyway). As much as I love the CFL, I don't think it should be counted in this thing. Far too different from the other leagues (9 teams instead of 30-ish, 67% of teams get into playoffs, etc.).
October 31, 200520 yr Author comment_3804453 Oh, and throw in Dallas in the group, unless people count the Texas Rangers as a "Dallas" team. The Mavs never won an NBA title.... Also, I was limiting this to US cities, as you can see the problem Canadian cities add to the mix in this discussion
October 31, 200520 yr comment_3804574 For the NFL, are you just counting Super Bowls, or SB + NFL Championships? Because the Eagles never won a SB.
October 31, 200520 yr comment_3804638 D'oh, forgot about the Mavs, and stupid me forgot about the Oilers and Flames when thinking about Canadian teams. I'm off my game today. I see no reason why we can't count NFL Championships, pre-Super Bowl in this. What about the AFL, though?
October 31, 200520 yr Author comment_3804762 I thought it was fair to count pre-Super Bowl NFL titles, and I wasn't counting AFL titles since that was not considered the major football championship.
October 31, 200520 yr comment_3805401 If you count the President's Trophy (haha), then St. Louis qualifies, as the Blues won that, the Rams have won a Super Bowl, and the Cardinals have multiple World Series championships.

November 1, 200520 yr comment_3808895 You might be able to add Milwaukee, as the Braves won the World Series in 1957, and the Bucks won the NBA championship in 1970(?).
