It's on WWE.com's front page, and it's being discussed at TSM, and of course they haven't thought of the possibility that the E could be working us.

Has this been confirmed by anyone else (Meltzer, etc.) ?

I'm waiting for someone else to confirm it too, but I don't think it's impossible for this to happen, at all, or even improbable. The guy's had the rug pulled out from under him so much as far as his push goes, with the worst happening this summer when he got sent to Smackdown just when he was getting into a feud with WWE Champ John Cena. And on Smackdown, he does... a whole lot of nothing.

If this is true, Helmsley must be thrilled. Not only is Jericho gone (even if it's temporary), but so is some of Jericho's clique.

I can't help but think back to Edge's book when he talked about Christian not wanting wrestling as bad as he did. In fact, he even got in after Edge even though they were childhood friends and Edge was already "on his way."

If that's true, I'm more afraid that this is true and Christian will get out of the business instead of going to work TNA, ROH or Japan when he no compete clause ends.

Part of me wants to think this is a setup for some type of angle, but then I remember the WWE is more interested in giving guys penis gimmicks than thinking up ways to push people who got over on their own.

If this is legit, I for one won't be surprised. Wasn't there reports out that Christian wasn't happy with getting shunted to SD and forgotten about?

I really hope this is true so he can go to TNA and have that "Waltman shooting on Hogan when he came back to the WWF" moment you know he wants to do.

I'm curious what his breaking point was. Maybe the Boogeyman and the midgets getting TV time on Smackdown?

I think it was more his situation than what others such as those you mentioned were doing.

And really, his case, that I stated above, is even worse than Kurt Angle going to RAW just when the Angle-Sharmell-Booker storyline took an interesting turn...

I have to wonder why they do that too. I mean, things like that give a nice unpredictable nature, but you leave the fans hanging when they get into a certain feud, storyline, etc. and you only piss off your workers that are getting nicely into it too.

From Meltzer:

Jay Reso's final match in WWE was last night at the TV tapings in Los Angeles. While the WWE web site reported him quitting, which was accurate, what happened was a week ago in San Francisco, he was given a new contract, as his old one expired, and told to sign on the spot. He didn't sign. He did come back to work and do another job last night when he quit.

Got this from a poster at TSM

So they pulled the old Wendi Richter manuver on him, demanding he sign a contract on the spot? I can imagine what was in the fine print when they want people to sign legal documents without reading them.

If his contract just ran out, does that mean there won't be a no-compete clause? I can't see how they could enforce one if his deal with the WWE ended on its own with no firings/releases.

It's surreal when you think about it. The Dudleys Vs. The Hardyz Vs. Edge & Christian were big matches in WWE. The Dudleys & Jeff Hardy are already in TNA. Christian will probably be showing up soon. Matt Hardy was close to going at one time too. Edge is currently on the shelf due to injury again.

Not true about Edge. He's working through the injury.

But yea, the rest is pretty surreal.

Not very intelligent, are they. I see the WWE still isn't taking TNA seriously as competition, thinking a discontent employee would accept whatever terms were in their new contract without a second thought.

I'm not too enthusiastic about his future in TNA if there is one, but hey, if they can utilize him properly, good for them.

Vince views UFC as the threat because it has a track record of bringing in ratings. If he turns his back to TNA for too long, they're going to continue building on that audience already in place. UFC has a much harder time to get to the point where it can compete with the WWE than TNA does, especially since the WWE is trying to actively compete with the UFC.

Sek,

the 90 day clauses only apply to a wrestler if they agree to continue to be paid by the WWF during that time. If you opt out you can immediately appear elsewhere, see Raven in 2003. Contracts running out have no such issues. He could appear on TNA's Primetime special on Thursday if they spliced in a promo.

Apparently this was yet another case of Johnny Ace trying to push someone, this time Christian, in a "you need us more than we need you" way. The Insider Elite was reporting that Christian just gave up trying to deal with Ace and asked for a meeting with Vince McMahon himself at the Smackdown taping last night.
