I'm not sure this first disc is 80's or 70's, but I will talk about them anyway.

[AJW TV Late 1979/Early 1980] - 32 minutes
cont. Victoria Fujimi/Rimi Yokota/Lucy Kayama v. Leilani Kai/Joyce Grable/Mami Kumano 2/3 Falls

This was fun but only had about 10 minutes shown. The gaijin women were pretty bad ass and the faces had a nice come back with some cool offense. Nothing special.

Jackie Sato v. Vicki Williams

I liked this a lot and if it actually took place in the 80's I could see it having a spot on the set. It was very rough these two layed it in with stretches. Sato finished this off with two belly to back suplexes that looked great and followed with a Snuka splash. I would compare this to an underneath less stiff strike Regal-Finlay affair. Very enjoyable.

[AJW TV 1979-1980?] - 71 minutes

The open to the TV show was real fun. Chair shots, high spots and awesome awesome music! We start with talking. A women joins the announcers and she may be a wrestler or a celebrity, not sure. They are showing dates that seem to be December 79, so this show is probably not relevant.

Kazue Sakamoto v. Kaoru Matsumoto

Is Matsumoto the young Dump? This match featured either the worse catapult or best counter to the catapult ever. This was pretty basic, but I dug both of these two. Looking forward to more. Nothing outstanding though.

Tomoko Kitamura v. Hiroe Ito

Black stripped outfit girl refuses a handshake and this out starts out quick. Even the nothing matches are filled with stiff shots. I'm really digging this stiff WCW B-Show type style. No great matches so far, but lots of fun. Second straight match with some good work on the knee. Very odd. Blue outfit girl won't break from her knee beat down and when the referee tries to stop her, she tosses him. This leads to the black stripped girls comeback. I guess no heel or face match structure? I'm not sure if I am going to still love the bridging kick out of a pin at the end of this project or not? GIANT SWING by blue outfit girl followed by slam and splash for the win. Fun for what it was but no need to track it down.

Nancy Kumi v. Yumi Ikeshita

i caught there names this time, so no judging people based on their outfits. However if we were Yumi Ikeshita is the best ever. Black normal top with one yellow leg and boot and one black leg and boot. Also.. black gloves! Just great!

Ikeshita has an MMA gimmick with the stance and awesome punches. Nothing much happens but Ikeshita was awesome. At one point she slammed Kumi face first into the tip of her boot. She seemed really cool and vicious. Kumi eventually loses her shit and throws Ikeshita into a bunch of chairs. Kumi returns the favour, after some failed winning attempts, by working on Kumi's knee. That's 3 out of 8 knees being attacked so far on this episode of TV. By the way, there is a lot of stalling in this match. This gets pretty good near the end with some really good suplexes and more brawling in chairs. Lots of suplexes and the time runs out. I ended up really digging this, if it is the 80's I'd nominate it. I think it's 70's though.

They have a vicious post match brawl and I really hope the re-match is in the 1980's, because I want to see it and if it live's up to my internal hype it is guaranteed for the set.

Ayumi Hori (Super Jumbo)/Lucy Kayama v. Noriko Kawakami/Monster Ripper 2/3 Falls

Ok Bertha Faye is a great heel. They jump start the match and attack with flowers!!! She's just a destructive beast and I can't wait to see more of her. Kawakami is a pretty great heel too. Wow Ripper is fucking awesome!! Lariats, splashes, hair tosses, etc... I love this team within the first few minutes of the match. First fall is kind of a squash. Ripper hits a sitting splash from the top that leads to the finish. Real boss.

Second fall is more of these great heels beating down the faces. Ripper just yelling at everybody and kicking ass is great. After quite the beat down Hori rolls up Kawakami for an upset pin. Ripper is pissed and she may kill her partner as well as her opponents.

We finally get the firey comeback in the third fall and the faces are able to legit pin Kawakami. Ripper does push her around at this time. I guess no more of this team.

Fun match, but nothing special.

Show over!

Been watching a lot of 90's Joshi, which made me think I should get back to this set. I'm skipping ahead to volume 7, because volume 6 is the 70s.

Volume 7

[AJW TV 2/21/1980] - 72 minutes
Ayumi Hori v. Temjin Masami

A completely fine TV opener. Nothing special here.

Chino Sato/Rimi Yokota v. Hiroko Komine/Patty Steiger
This starts off furious with Yokota and Sato going crazy and we get a quick brawl on the floor. From there we get a FIP on Yokota with frequent tags and Patty being a monster. I think we get a clip as we focus on the crowd and then we are into Yokota giving Patty a figure four and then double figure fours. Now we get a HIP on Komine. A second brawl on the floor, inlcuding using the mic cord this time. GIANT SWING by Sato. Two power bombs and then Yokota comes over with a splash for the win. Fun match, but not special enough to recommend.

Tomi Aoyoama vacates All Pacific title due to knee injury + Lucy Kayama v. Yumi Ikeshita for vacant title
The clip of Tomi vacates the title is sad. It's a sit down with two guys and a women interviewer. She is crying and gives some sad words. his is followed up by a training session interrupted by the same interviewer. She is a real investigative reporter.

The match:
We get a lot of arm work by Ikeshita and she is pretty good at it. They are working counter mat stuff back and forth. This started off slow, but the limb work and counters is pretty awesome here. Including Lucy turning it into a leglock, only to get head butted in the gut and to be thrown back into an arm move. Lucy's come back has some nice stomps. Although she seems to have forgotten that her arm was almost ripped off by hitting a underhook suplex with ease. She's now back on the leg and Yumi keeps bailing. Yui has brought in some kind of foreign object and is hiding it. Good ole hide the object section. After so many stabs to the head, blood would be nice here, but nope. Then we get a nice long king of the mountain spot. Lucy finally drags her outside and steals the weapon for herself! Good comeback and then we are back at ringside brawling. Yumi nails Lucy and then the referee and then Lucy again with a steel chair. We get some more action and then a missed slingshot plancha by Yumi and a missed plancha by Lucy. Two piledrivers finishes this off for Yumi.

So... I think some people might really dig this one, but others would hate it. There was parts that were amazing and some annoying bits... I think this is a low end nomination.

Jackie Sato/Nancy Kumi v. Mami Kumano/Yvonne Jennings

2/3 Falls.

The first fall was nothing much, but the second was filled with action. Fun stuff, but not worth any nominations or anything.

[AJW TV Early 1980] - 72 minutes
Ayumi Hori v. Rimi Yokota

This is some kind of trinagle situation where the winner of this faces Patty.

The arm work by Hori and the selling by Yokota is top notch here. It's also really quick, because there will be a second match. Fun stuff.

Rimi Yokota v. Patty Steiger
Right away Patty enters and this should be completely different. I enjoyed this.

Volume 7 (cont'd)

[AJW TV Early 1980] - 72 minutes

Chino Sato/Mimi Hagiwara v. Temjin Masami/Hiroko Komine

This starts off like a sprint this goes to the outside to use the table. It's amazing how often this happens in AJW at this time. Turns out this match is just a quick spot fest. Nothing muh to it.

Jackie Sato v. Yvonne Jennings
Before the match we get a weird interview about Yvonne Jennings breasts. They zoom and in and ask her if they hurt during matches. She says it's extra padding. It ends with Jennings destroying the backstage area. This has to be on the set.

This was a lot of fun. Yvonne is a good bully heel and Sato plays a good underdog. After a lot of destruction they brawl to the floor (of course). Sato does a comeback and they fight to a double count out. The post match brawl between the two was pretty awesome too. I want a longer rematch, please! (Damn, it's not coming on this set).

Mami Kumano/Yumi Ikeshita v. Nancy Kumi/Lucy Kayama 2/3 Falls

This is for some kind of tag titles the hold up before the match. Another 2/3 falls match, seems like every show ends in one. The first fall is all about Lucy as a face in peril and it even includes a queen of the mountain spot. The heels have great chemistry as a team. Lucy makes an intense comeback, hot tag is fun but shut down. The first fal continues a lot longer but is a lot of good action. A german suplex gets the heels the first fall win.The death of Lucy continues into fall number two and it even includes a hanging. They do some really cool drop on back of head spots to Lucy too, plus lots of kicks. She must have a concussion. A high flying come back ties this up. Lucy is still dead though. Final fall starts as a brawl. We get Yumi destroying everyone with chairs, cinluding the referee and her partner (by accident). Faces get the chair and return the favour. More floor brawling and we get Lucy doing a top turnbuckle to the floor wiping everyone out (and killing herself on the table). Brawl on the floor, Lucy rolls in and count out. Damn.

This was pretty damn good and I am loving this Yumi-Lucy feud. There was some weird stuff, but that might just be the style. This might be a really low end nomination, but nothing I would fight for.

[AJW TV Jan/March 1980] - 57 minutes
Chino Sato v. Patty Steiger

A compleley fine match.

Lucy Kayama v. Yumi Ikeshita
Another match in this awesome feud. This must be a few weeks after the first one, because Yumi does not have the title anymore. I guess it could be before the first one too. They go to a 20 minute draw, fun stuff but not going to nominate it, it's the least of their three matches so far.

Nancy Kumi v. Temjin Masami

Another really solid, but not spectacular match.

Rimi Yokota/Jackie Sato v. Yvonne Jennings/Mami Kumano 2/3 Falls (first fall only)

There is less than ten minutes left and they are missing two falls? Fun first fall, but missing so much.

Volume 8

[AJW TV Early/Mid 1980] - 65 minutes
Rimi Yokota v. Temjin Masami

This was intense from the start. Masami was a monster and her second helped her out. There was a really cool brawl on the floor with the seconds too.Basically Masami's second who interfered got drug to the back by like 6 seconds for Yokota, after some fun brawling. They restarted the match and Yokota took it too her. It settled down to some matwork from her and Masami choking of course. It's AJW so more crowd brawling. Masami grabs a sponge or something and wipes into Yokota's eyes and she is blinded. It must be soaked in ether? Masami has a pretty good beatdown, switching from working the eyes and vicious knees to the back. Finally the referee removed the sponge, which Masami was using like Abby hiding the pencil. Wasn't too big on Yokota's comeback. We get a time limit draw.

Nancy Kumi v. Monster Ripper

A fun brawl while it lasted. We get a double count out.

Tomi Aoyama/Lucy Kayama v. Yumi Ikeshita/Mami Kumano 2/3 Falls

The Black Pair is back and the feud with Lucy Kayama continues! First fall is a fast and intense brawl featuring a huge dive and a bloody nose. Awesome stuff. Second fall was quick (in time and pace). Black Pair throwing around seconds between falls is pretty awesome too. The time between the 2nd and 3rd fall is just glorious. They even toss around a dude in a suit. The third fall starts amongst chaos. Black Pair destroy the injured knee of Aoyama. They grab towels to choke and then beat up some more officials and guys in suits. Match gets thrown out. Wait after all that madness and destruction the Black Pair pin Lucy for the win.

This should be an extra, because it is awesome. It's weird as it's kind of an uncomplete match due to the chaotic nature of it. I wouldn't mind it on there if somebody else thinks it deserves it. Either way, it's a LOT of fun. A great continuation of the best feud on these tapes.

Jackie Sato v. Chabela Romero

Sato continues to battle the gaijins. Monster Ripper was awesome at ringside. We get blood after this crowd brawl. Romero is pissed. A fun brawl where Sato makes Romero submit to the figure four. Seems to be a match just to set up Sato vs Ripper, which I am pumped to see.

Volume 8 (cont'd)

[AJW TV Early/Mid 1980] - 65 minutes
Chino Sato v. Ayumi Hori

A really solid opening match. Sato looked great with awesome legwork early, but lost in the end.

Mimi Hagiwara/Tomi Aoyama v. Noriko Kawakami/Yumi Ikeshita
GIANT SWING! It's amazing the offence in AJW in 1980. Power bombs, DVDs, Jackhammers. It's really insane how far ahead of the times they feel at times. That being said, this match was fine, but nothing special.

Lucy Kayama v. Mami Kumano

The feud continues with Kayama vs The Black Pair, so I am psyched. This time instead of facing Yumi she gets her partner. Kind of a disappointment of a match. We get a long hide the foreign object section though. This needed to be more heat filled. Blood would had really helped. This was just to cordial for the feud that has been brewing. A fun little spot is Lucy putting on the figure four, while two seconds run in who do the same figure four spot! Again after all those foreign object shots we get a chair shot and still no blood? Ending is either a time limit or double DQ, not sure. A fine match, but not on the level of the Lucy-Yumi matches.

Rimi Yokota/Nancy Kumi/Jackie Sato v. Temjin Masami/Chabela Romero/Monster Ripper 2/3 Falls

Before the match we get a training segment in the ring taped before the show and an interview. I love this format.

Monster Ripper is the best, but this didn't do much for me.

Just as an FYI, you may want to double-check me, but every match Dan included on the other set that happened between 1978 and 1983 should be listed here. Since those were in random order, he decided to do a chronological set after some of his customers made the case for it. I'm not sure why that didn't include the 1984 to 1989 matches, or if he intends to do one for those years at a later time. But if you watch these, I believe you *should* be able to skip any pre-1984 matches on the other discs. Just cross-reference to be on the safe side.
