So every so often, Bret Hart or Triple H will take a little shot at one another ("4/10", "Bret was too serious", etc). It's clear that they don't really like one another, but neither will bluntly come out and say it. On the other hand, Triple H has always been really complementary of Owen Hart, he seems to rate the late Hart above his more popular brother and regards him as one of the greatest wrestlers he's ever worked with.

Inspired by this, what other examples of wrestlers who dislike each other can you think of, any interesting stories behind the mutual hatred?

The HHH stuff about Owen is interesting. I've never heard that before. Do you have any direct quotes?

Alberto Del Rio said this about Miz on a radio show a few years ago:

"I hate The Miz. This is not part of the show. I really dislike that guy. I've tried to punch him in the face several times, not in the ring, I mean outside the ring. He's like a little girl. He's always running away from me..."

"There's a big difference between The Miz and I. I'm a real athlete. He's just a loud, stupid little kid. He's one of those guys who was probably bullied when he was in school and that's the reason now that he's so loud and he wants to get attention from everybody."

I'm always more interested when two wrestlers don't get on but they have the same close mutual friends. Bret Hart used to speak kindly of Flair before things went to hell between them (they seem to get on now which is great to see). But they share a close mutual friend in Roddy Piper. I picture what that must be like. If I had two close friends who fell out with each other, I'd want them to patch it up. Other than Piper they were both close with Perfect also.

Competitive jealousy was one of the main factors

Maybe I am getting this mixed up with something else but didn't they have a big fight (not a dispute, but an actual fight) and neither wanted to talk about it afterwards?

Yes and it pissed Baba off immensely hence why at one point supposedly they had to be separated at all times other than the ring.

I'd love to hear more about the Misawa/Kawada stuff. I've read that Kawada was a bit more outspoken about things backstage and had some differences of opinion with Baba in the 90's, but when Misawa left to form NOAH it's Kawada that stayed! Was he even invited? Did they ever speak about that publicly?

Was there any actual evidence that Savage and Hogan made amends before Randy's death? I can't imagine everyone taking Hulk's word for it considering his prism of reality. Maybe Lanny said something and I missed it.

I haven't heard Lanny confirm it, although he does speak kindly of Hulk. Warrior called bull shit of it when he did that massive shoot YouTube video on Hogan (the trailer for which was far better than the actual thing).

Dave Meltzer has mentioned that people that were close to Savage believe the story to be true.

Don't think Kawada had interest in going. I think there was a mention in the press.. Kawada saying Misawa's style would lead to overlong and boring(?) shows. Paraphrasing and translation both apply.

But I do remember it playing out in the press some what.

He said that Hogan had told people in TNA about him and Savage laying their problems to rest before Savage even died.

Hulk talked about them meeting in the hospital on his Hogan and Friends speaking tour which was several months before Randy passed away. And Jay Lethal said at one point they were talking about Savage making a TNA cameo during the Black Machismo deal, which I think he said included a phone call with Savage or at least he'd been told Savage enjoyed the gimmick. I'd imagine they'd have never gotten that far if they weren't back on good terms.

When Misawa died it was said the heat came from him.

A lot of the British guys disliked each other -- McManus and Pallo, Jones and Rocco. Ken Ben seemed to have heat with a lot of people. Blood-boots Keith Martinelli allegedly had a backstage fight with Skull Murphy. A lot of guys hated McManus, Pallo and Kellett, who were unsurprisingly three of the biggest stars in the business. Adrian Street disliked everything about Kellett. There was an infamous double cross on McManus by a Northern promoter and wrestler who were out to prove a point.

I've never heard the full story on the Misawa-Kawada heat before. I kind of got the idea that there was some bad blood towards the end of the August 93 match when Misawa just kept suplexing Kawada before pinning him. Didn't seem like a real necessary thing when I watched it first few times and now that I know the ongoing chase storyline it almost seems to run counter to it.

Yeah, Kawada had it rough in Stampede. Some of it might have to do with the fact he was given a Korean gimmick (a lot of animosity exists between many South Korean and Japanese people, even to this day, but particularly in the 1980's). Zenk claims to have got on well with Kawada, mentoring him somewhat and introducing him to Western bodybuilding concepts. I'm pretty sure that Kawada claimed he liked Stan Hansen too (might have been his autobiography?) somewhere. But then, Hansen seems to be friendly with many of the AJPW stalwarts, him and Kobashi even filmed a sit down reunion prior to Kobashi's retirement where both spoke favorably about each other and many other wrestlers, including Misawa and Kawada.
