I fucking love New Jack. He's everything a pro wrestler is supposed to be. He's a total character who never drops the act. Even in shoots, he's still playing his character. He had a defined act that had a fixed spot on cards, doing his unique act. The character, the music playing, the brawling, the promos.....it all comes together to create a Professional Wrestler that's become someone everyone knows and is iconic. He's a guy who was perfect as a the mid card crazy good guy. ECW's Jimmy Valiant.

Not saying you're wrong to not consider New Jack, but out of curiousity what do you think makes him so different from someone like Abdullah The Butcher? They both would basically do the same thing in every match the were in, had very little technical skill and they both generated big reactions from crowds at their peak.

Abby had a forty year career, was a big draw, and a legend of the business; new Jack wasn't. That's the main reason why.

The Gangstas had a good match with the THUGs in SMW, and had a good 6-man in ECW teaming with Dreamer against Lee & the Eliminators. And...that's about it. I don't recall any of the Rock 'n Roll Express matches being anything more than okay, which is a pretty damning indictment of the team.

Possibly a top-50 talker just based on his SMW work, but that's it.

New Jack pitched the idea to WWE to have him be the guy who stabbed Cena when they did that "Cena was stabbed in a nightclub" thing so he could go film The Marine. New Jack in a WWE style hardcore match would have been..interesting. Having New Jack on the list of former Cena PPV opponents along with Sabu would also be fun.

Oh, he's not a top 100 wrestler of all time. Or 200. But he's certainly one of the most interesting wrestling characters ever.

I watched some Gangstas in SMW stuff recently and there's a parallel universe out there where New Jack kept working traditional tag matches & brawls as opposed to ECW plunder bullshit and became a really strong tag wrestler. He has a real charisma & presence and that apron lariat is a fucking dynamite spot. He's someone who I think could've been a good wrestler in a different environment. But ultimately for a project like this he's a no.

Agree, he is an incredibly interesting character but nothing more unfortunately.
