There is a commercial break early in the match that breaks up the flow but this is a fun little TV match. The fans went apeshit for Champion's ode to Daniel LaRusso with the crane kick but he would then eat a serious Steinerline to end the match. The early part of this was fun watching the faces work together with the heels stooging around for them. The double monkey flip spot with Morton, Rogers, & Assassin was cool. Rogers would get isolated in the heel corner and he worked FIP getting punished by all of the heels where Ivan was totally the glue that held everything together here. Morton got the hot tag and the Macon Coliseum erupted going crazy for everything as the match broke down into an 8-way brawl. Assassin had Morton in the Cobra Clutch but Fulton would come off the top hitting Ivan who ran into the Assassin knocking him down forcing him to get pinned. Paul Jones jumps on Ivan afterwards which is the beginning of his turn. This was a very fun TV match and this goes on the block as a low-end pick.NWA Pro 1/16/88NWA World TV Title: "Russian Nightmare" Nikita Koloff © vs. "Capt. Redneck" Dick Murdoch (1/3/88)This is from Baltimore and a pretty cool looking matchup. Murdoch is dominant here from the start as he works over Nikita's neck which was injured the year before and Nikita fights hard trying to subdue Murdoch succeeding for a short time but Dick just keeps on coming. Murdoch is relentless at working over Nikita with Nikita doing a really good job of selling the punishment while getting in whatever hope spots he could get in. Whenever Nikita was on offense Murdoch was fantastic getting it over as the Baltimore fans was crazy for Nikita. Nikita would accidentally hit Dick Woehrle with a Russian Sickle allowing Corny to run in with a tennis racket to nail Nikita. The MX would come out now as Earl Hebner would take over as the referee then Dusty & Windham would come out to even the odds and the fans are even more hot. Murdoch keeps trying to put away Nikita but he won't quit even after a big Oklahoma Stampede which looked like the end. They were totally telegraping the draw but the fans didn't care and were heavily into everything as Murdoch is now bleeding from his nose. Dick hits a big piledriver on Nikita who barely kicks out then follows up with a brainbuster right as the bell rings. This had great drama and then the post-match was hot as the MX would attack Dusty before Murdoch tried to break Dusty's arm like he did Doc but Windham would make the save with the tennis racket. This was clipped up some but a tremendous segment and worth a nomination no doubt.Sting & Barry Windham vs. Gary Royal & George South (1/3/88)The jobbers had no chance.Bob Caudle interviews Dr. Death next about Windham but he wants to talk about the 1988 Orange Bowl instead before finally talking about Windham where he plays subtle heel."Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin & Michael "PS" Hayes vs. Mark Fleming & Larry Stephens (1/3/88)Garvin & Hayes are dressed exactly alike here and looking like they would over a year later.Arn, Tully, & Flair are interviewed by Bob Caudle next about being short a member of the Horsemen but Flair says that they don't need anyone else before ripping on Luger. The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) vs. Bob Riddle & Steve Sampson (1/3/88)This goes like 30 seconds but Johnny Ace & The Sheepherders would attack them after the match using the flagpole on Morton's right leg. Caudle interviews the Sheeps afterwards who gloat about what they did.Mike Rotundo vs. Tommy Angel (1/3/88)Rotundo debuts his new Varstiy Club attire and Kevin Sullivan jumps Angel on the floor with Rotundo following up on the attack and he is now full blown heel. Caudle interviews them afterwards."Total Package" Lex Luger vs. Curtis Thompson (1/3/88)Luger is a new babyface and the fans are starting to get behind him. Luger then cuts a promo on the Horsemen aftewards.NWA Worldwide 1/16/88This starts with David Crockett interviewing Hayes & Garvin about the Arn/Tully vs. Sting/Windham match from later in the show wanting the winners.Tony Schiavone then interviews the Sheeps where they show the attack of the RnR from Pro."Dr. Death" Steve Williams vs. Mark Fleming (1/3/88)Doc just NUKES Fleming with a German Suplex to start the match and works this match as a heel basically.Schiavone then interviews Corny, MX, & Murdoch about their attack on the Super Powers on Pro with clips shown. The Road Warriors (Animal & Hawk) vs. Gary Royal & George South (1/3/88)This ends in seconds and they cut a promo on the Powers of Pain afterwards.Ivan Koloff & The Powers of Pain (The Barbarian & The Warlord) vs. Tommy Angel, Larry Stephens, & Curtis Thompson (1/3/88)Total squash.Mike Rotundo vs. Bob Riddle (1/3/88)Squash and Crockett interviews Mike & Sullivan afterwards.Luger cuts a promo next about being tired of being a Horseman and is ready to go on his own.NWA World Tag Titles: Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard © vs. Sting & Barry Windham (1/3/88)This had some clipping but it was a really good match as the faces were dominant early but Sting would get caught by the Horsemen after missing a Stinger Splash. The Horsemen then started working over Sting's ribs as well as the rest of his body with Sting doing a good job of selling. Horsemen were very adept at using double teams and keeping Sting close to their corner so they can move in and out. Windham gets the hot tag and runs wild taking the battle to the Horsemen but as he goes for the lariat he gets tripped by Dillon which was seen by Earl Hebner who calls for the DQ. Sting would get chunked to the floor and Windham would get doubleteamed until Luger runs out to make the save but along with Sting they get beat down by the Horsemen. This was a fun match and the post-match was hot. I'll give this one a mild nomination but the finish stunk.
