Posted May 6, 201510 yr comment_5667369 Episode 1 is apparently set to drop today. I will be listening every episode. Even if it is a trainwreck, he's literally worked with them all, so who knows what stuff may come up. That makes it "must-listen" to me, much more than all the other wrestler pods out there. Ric has some interesting opinions about working style and psychology too. If he's in the right mood, he can have a lot to say. Let's hope we get good Ric and not Legends of Wrestling Ric. But I'm excited. EDIT: here it is ... http://www1.play.it/audio/wooooo-nation/
May 6, 201510 yr comment_5667370 I would rather listen to Konnan or Taz and I don't listen to those shows. I've heard Flair do podcast, sit down interviews, pre-show spots, legends of wrestling and he has been horrible in all those settings.
May 6, 201510 yr Author comment_5667372 I respectfully disagree Steven. I enjoyed the 13-hour High Spots. I thought he was great on Austin. I thought he was good in the joint shoot with Terry Funk. Horrible on Legends of Wrestling roundtables. But y'know, I'm a Flair guy. You're not a Flair guy. Leave the Flair guys listen to Flair's shows.
May 6, 201510 yr Author comment_5667376 It's up: http://www1.play.it/audio/wooooo-nation/ Putting it in the OP
May 6, 201510 yr comment_5667377 His 1st 2 guests are Angle and then Meltzer. Ok, I will try the Meltzer show and if he can't make that good then I don't know what to say.
May 6, 201510 yr comment_5667379 Flair probably fucking loves Angle as a wrestler. Angle's actually a good example of what Flair might have been without his preternatural instincts and ability to both read a crowd and (more importantly) define a crowd's expectations
May 6, 201510 yr comment_5667380 I'll check it out at some point, but with so many podcasts out there I have a short leash these days.
May 6, 201510 yr comment_5667386 I'm really curious about this. I haven't listened to or seen a lot of his shoots or interviews, but I was always left with the impression that Flair had trouble expressing how or why he did things. Looking forward to hearing his thoughts.
May 6, 201510 yr comment_5667394 Can't say the one with Angle interests me, but I'll certainly check out the one with Meltzer.
May 13, 201510 yr comment_5668126 Meltzer episode is great (Dave's crappy phone notwithstanding). They just bounce around to a million topics and everyone is having a blast.
May 15, 201510 yr comment_5668286 The Angle episode was mostly a mutual slurpfest that went nowhere, but the Meltzer episode turned out really well. I thought I was going to drive into a ditch when I heard Flair say that the only two reporters that have credibility in the wrestling business were Meltzer and Mark Madden (?!?!) but, other than that and Meltzer's awful sound quality, it was well worth the listen. There are some friendly little jabs at Bret Hart and Wade Keller too, which I know some folks will enjoy. If anything, it reminded me of how much I wish Dave would do a podcast without Bryan Alvarez, but that's a topic for another thread.
May 15, 201510 yr comment_5668289 I imagine we'll have to at least discount the Brody argument at some point.

May 19, 201510 yr comment_5668855 I really enjoyed the looseness of the Meltzer episode as well. I was a bit leery of a Flair podcast, but he was really playful, charismatic, and energetic as host. All the interviews I'd heard in the past of Flair on a podcast, he was very dull & monotone so I wasn't sure how this would go. Listening to him with Dave I can totally see how Flair would be "charming" in person as Dave always referred to him. I thought it was funny how Flair was trying to straddle the line at times between trying to be humble and downplaying the praise of him and at other times admitting "yeah I am the greatest, aren't I?". Not sure I would have time to listen to more of these, but I might depending on the guest.
May 20, 201510 yr comment_5668952 He talked about Bret on the Meltzer podcast. Said Bret disliked him but it wasn't mutual. And said they get along fine now. Someone should let Bret get a look at this before recording http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/18970-bret-hart-vs-ric-flair/
May 20, 201510 yr comment_5668954 Oh well. Next time.... Do any wrestlers read this board? I'd imagine older guys would appreciate it.
May 20, 201510 yr comment_5668963 The Bret podcast was really good. The two have patched up but the conversation was fun. Conrad asked Bret some tough questions like his thoughts on the Owen DVD and about Hulk Hogan. Flair seems to have gotten into a good groove and some of the questions are tougher and timely. Bret said he had no issue with the DVD and implied Martha was the only one still holding a grudge. Bret called Hogan a dirtbag and said Hogan wasn't trustworthy. Best Flair podcast yet!!
May 20, 201510 yr comment_5668977 Conrad and Flair make a good team. Conrad asks the fans questions we want asked. He can also deflect some of the heat off of Flair . I met Flair at a signing a few months back and talked to him for about 5 minutes and he was just like he is on the podcast.
