He will be cutting even better promos in San Antonio, TX. Unless dedhemingway sees I jumped the gun and scoops him. In which case my undercard may be saved at the expense of me writing a promo that makes me laugh every week.

Okay, I'm back. About Barrabas, he was one of the original Capitol Sports Promotion wrestlers when the promotion started up in the 70's. He was a masked tecnico called El Rayo de Bayamon. The story goes that he ended up turning on Miguel Perez Sr. during a tag match. This was basically the first big turn by a wrestler in Capitol Sports. In an interview addressing the incident, Perez angrily said "You are nothing but a Barrabas". He probable meant a Judas, but instead said Barrabas. El Rayo ran with it, naming himself El Rayo Barrabas, which eventually got shortened to Barrabas. He basically became the first notable heel manager in Capitol Sports, adopting Shag Thomas as his first charge. Barrabas would first lose the mask, and then lose his hair in his feud with Perez. This would lead to his trademark bald, sideburns and beard look.

Barrabas would leave Capitol Sports for a long period of time (due to apparent legal issues), and would work on the PR indie scene during that time. He would return as a manager/wrestler in the early 80's. He would end up taking along sabbatical from wrestling from the mid-80's to about early 91 due to injuries suffered in the Dupont Plaza tragedy. Since then he has remained active in on and off spurts with different companies locally.

Here's a clip of Barrabas in action in 1977:

And here he is having a communication breakdown with Apolo during a match:

I actually have added a lot of names over my youtube travels. I could see using a few All Star scrubs in some different gimmicks that I already thought of. Memphis would sometimes use a jobber's name to take a shot at another wrestling company so Tommy Rich look a like in a lone-ranger style mask as "The Masked Wildfire" is funny to me.

That Gran Apollo match reminds me of a tag match between Choshu/Yatsu and Jumbo/Tenryu. Yatsu gets out of control after Jumbo refuses to brawl with him. Higuchi and Choshu try to calm him down for a bit and then the bell rings. I love that match.
