Do you really think that 1. All-Star in Vancouver or Portland Wrestling are going to pay Swede Hanson to come and do jobs? 2. A young guy who can actually bump and move couldn't do the job better?

He wouldn't have a name in Vancouver or Portland anyway.

If I need a jobber I'd much rather have a Tony Zane who is going to be able to get punished and tossed around not a 50 year old guy who you can't be picking up and press slamming and abusing in the same manner.

Jobbers are to be BEAT ON not just beaten.

Hanson would have gotten work and not necessarily as a jobber, more likely down south than in Portland or Vancover. He wasn't a jobber for WWF anyway. They'd often use him as a stop gap title challenger like Bobby Duncum. By 83 he was winding down, but still severely undervalued in terms of where he went. I mean fuck, Frank Williams was picked before him.

Well pretty much since round 13-14 onward there have been a lot of guys who were really valuable who were left on the board in favor of someone who was either totally washed up or kind of a limited prospect. I don't see Swede as one of the misses though, he's a better big territory fit than a small one. A "big star" in a small territory needs to get some kind of actual push and I still don't see what you can really do with him. I can't use him against The Fabs that's for sure.

I'm just saying 20+ is very low for a guy with name value. Especially a big man.

Without trying to pick at you, I think you've placed "name value" as more important than anyone else in the draft. I'm gonna sell my shows on The Fabs, Duggan & hoping to see Tully die. Swede Hanson doesn't improve my posters or marquee even if people would know his name if they saw it.

Name value is important in wrestling. There can be no doubt about it. Ask any indie promoter.

It is, I never disputed that. I just think it's way more important at the top than it is in the middle or the bottom. There really isn't much else besides jobbers, old guys & guys with some low level talent left so it wasn't a bad pick at all but I don't think it's all that hard to see why he was still on the board. I mean there are still a few guys like him left still.

I think a real promoter would snap him up if he was available and actually willing to come. The last bit is what is key. Do you really think ICW or WWA wouldn't have anything to do with him if he was willing to go? Dylan seems to have been trying to simulate a sense of who might actually work in Portland given financial and other constraints. That's fine.

But since this isn't actually simulating any of that, I'm just saying that the actual promoters wouldn't have the same take on this if they had their pick of talent and it was guaranteed that they could go.

I don't really want to argue it all out or anything.
