June 17, 201510 yr comment_5677661 That may have been the case pre-network, but I cannot see how MITB 2015 was one of the biggest shows of the year. Because it's still presented as a big deal, and it features a gimmick match that defines their booking for a large chunk of the year.
June 17, 201510 yr comment_5677668 I get that but to me Cena is supposed to be like Hulk Hogan of our time. I don't recall Hogan needing to evolve much in-ring. But I suppose his deal was turning heel and surrounding himself with guys that would run in and help him keep his belt so I guess everyone deals with that mortality differently. I guess this is preferrable. If Hulk Hogan did a Burning Hammer, that would be worth at least a star. That's funny to picture. And Man in Blak, I know Cena has suffered the disadvantage of being the most readily exposed tv ace in WWE history up to now, so yeah I guess his evolution is a necessity. Ironic though considering how his character on the face of it has undergone essentially zero change. So maybe I just have to concede that his story being told in the ring has to serve as the substitution for that.
June 17, 201510 yr comment_5677672 Yeah, Cena has had zero character change. I hated that at the PPV he wore a Ravens jersey and did an insulting rap at the crowd while Bull Buchanan stood by. 😘
June 17, 201510 yr comment_5677673 Well come on Johnny, it's not a ridiculous comment. Since he became a main eventer and stopped rapping his character has remained virtually the same, and that was in like 2006.
June 17, 201510 yr comment_5677762 For a brief moment following the conclusion of Cena/Owens it felt like the crowd was about to stand and finally deliver an adult male led 'Cena, Cena, Cena!' chant. I was all set to get something in my eye, for the second time that night. But it was not to be. Not this time. You just keep me hangin' on.
