Gino is the guy whose stock is rising the highest with the NWA Classics releases. Looked so awesome against Lothario and Wahoo, great bumper and bleeder with some really nasty offense too. Loved the Dynamic Duo stuff, but before now we didn't have much footage available, if great stuff continues to get released he will be a lock for my ballot

Agree with what Phil says. On the Houston stuff he comes across as a better worker than say Tully did in the Horseman.

Terry Funk said that he always felt a wrestler needed 3 to 4 years of experience before he could really understand wrestling. Gino was the one guy who made him reconsider that idea, as he was great right away. Hopefully we get even earlier footage of him.

The Race 2/3 falls match is another feather in Gino's cap, he is really awesome in it, bleeds a ton, is vicious when he in on offense, takes some big bumps, really great performance as a local heel who gets the crowd behind him against the champ.

I really really enjoyed Gino vs. Mil Mascaras from the recent AJPW uploads.

Have been watching a bunch of WCCW over the last few months. Not impressed. Nothing strikes me as particulary good yet.

No one pimping him in here has been pimping him based on his World Class work. World Class is not really a "great match" territory on it's own anway, I feel like it was the weakest of the 80s sets by far.

Well, it's true that working with the Von Erichs just isn't the easiest way to have really good matches. It never kept Terry Gordy and Buddy Robert from looking excellent though, and Chris Adams from looking really solid.

Gino is also probably a really weird case of a guy who was better in his first 3-4 years in wrestling than he was 9-10 years into his career. I would speculate that's probably due to getting heavily into drugs but in his matches from 1978-1982 on NWAClassics he looks like a guy who would develop into an all time great (like top 20 great) because just a few years into his career he was already an amazing performer. Instead he seemed to go backwards and was clearly a worse performer in 1985 than he was 6-7 years earlier.

I didn't realize the Houston footage was this early. And yeah, cocaine is one hell of a drug.
