Posted August 27, 201510 yr comment_5695195 Kris (who forgets which number this show is) is joined by Wes Hatch & Rob Naylor to discuss the current greatness of August 2015 Independent Wrestling not just in the United States but the United Kingdom. We talk about the greatness of EVOLVE, how NXT ripped it up in Brooklyn and why Sasha Banks is freaking awesome, ROH and their show in Atlanta on 8/29 and do they depend too much on outside talent, then we end with our in depth preview of the 2015 Best of Los Angeles for PWG and who we think will go balls out as well as who wins. This show is a must listen because you will get juice here that you won’t get anywhere else!!! http://placetobenation.com/exile-on-badstreet-13-the-indytaken-2/
August 27, 201510 yr comment_5695202 Started listening to this on my way to work this morning and I'm enjoying the show. Naylor talking about the Evolve/WWE relationship is interesting and him saying that "the writers write for an audience of three" should be framed and shown to everyone who questions why WWE can't do anything right booking wise.
August 27, 201510 yr comment_5695288 No lie, gonna hit up Naylor for broadcasting advice because the way he does them makes me happy he's behind a microphone. Truly loves what he does and you can hear it. Awesome episode so far, haven't even gotten into the meat of NXT/ROH/PWG yet. EVOLVE stuff has been cool to listen to, though, and Rob really should open up that rookie symposium!!!
August 29, 201510 yr comment_5695697 I loved Naylor's comparison to how NXT is similar to WWF in the 70's and 80's where guys pop in and work a program and leave.
August 29, 201510 yr comment_5695705 Fun show that's managed to heighten my interest in the indie scene. I now kinda love Baron Corbin after hearing them stories. Wish Naylor didn't always sound like he is calling from inside a phone booth at the bottom of a swimming pool.
August 31, 201510 yr comment_5696086 Rob's break down for each NXT performer as Kris ran down the Takeover card was tremendous - and as Kris put it - exclusive material considering Rob's relationship with the talent. Really fantastic stuff.
September 1, 201510 yr comment_5696277 Really loved this, as I genuinely like all three men involved. Only place where Naylor gets me is when he goes after "smart marks" for not liking stuff that he likes. If anyone fits the term smart mark it's him, him finding some work in wrestling doesn't change that because it was him being such a smart mark that got him that work. I just shake my head at Rob putting down people for being smart marks who don't know anything, cause he's essentially dismissing himself.
September 1, 201510 yr comment_5696282 I read his comments as the parable of the blind man and the elephant, mainly, and I was okay with them for what they were. Look, I'm the last person in the world who thinks you have to be a wrestler to have an opinion on wrestling, or even strong opinions, but at any point we are dealing with incomplete information. We can only go off what we are shown. Opportunity is an idea that comes up a lot in ranking wrestlers and what have you, and part of that is their opportunity to perform or show off or to have different sort of matches and part is our opportunity as viewers to see those things. So, maybe a guy like CJ Parker is better than people have been given reason to believe. Without the matches for us to see, we can't judge that. All we can judge is what we have to work on. There are plenty of ways to judge, mind you. Matches and ratings, performances, roles, etc, and if you've watched enough wrestling, you can extrapolate some things outwards, or at least try to. There are always things we simply can't know about a match, let alone a wrestler, but so long as we're consistent in our metrics, it's generally okay. There are times where we'll be wrong. There are more times when we'll be right or at least right to our own feelings. At the end of the day, it's a personal thing anyway. When we start interacting with one another on it, it's still okay. we just have to try to understand and admit our biases and blind spots and try to adjust for them best we can.
September 2, 201510 yr comment_5696386 Fun listen, but which one of you was recording this while frying bacon from inside an iron lung?
September 2, 201510 yr comment_5696547 The chemistry between these three guys is flawless. Kris and Naylor together is money. I like Naylor speaking his mind about certain fans. I don't think he intended it to be addressed to every internet fan.
September 2, 201510 yr Author comment_5696548 No of course not......the Wrestling Twitter world is a way different place from the message board world for those of you that aren't active on Twitter.
September 4, 201510 yr comment_5696879 Fun listen, but which one of you was recording this while frying bacon from inside an iron lung? LOL. Sorry about that. The first two times I did the show I turned the AC off because I was paranoid about it picking up and in the process roasted. So of course this time I turn it off and instead I sit next to a fan this time not realizing it was making that much noise. Believe me, I'd have rather had bacon. I'm glad everyone enjoyed the show. Kris and Rob are the Letterman/Murray of podcasts.
September 4, 201510 yr Author comment_5696896 These shows are always fun for me because it's just us talking shit like we are in a bar or something
September 11, 201510 yr comment_5698168 I am loving these podcasts but is there a person playing poker because it always sounds like someone is playing with chips. These are great ways to kill a long trip especially with Naylor
