Love these shows, the best audio out there at the moment. I've actually stopped subscribing to F4W just because the audio on this site is so good that I was hardly listening to anything from there beyond Karl Stern's show.

I got a few minutes into this and realized I hadn't heard the last 95 one yet, so I had to go back to there.

Thanks for the words HappHazzard, we try to put out quality audio with our array of shows.

I've said it before, but the concept of this show makes for tremendous listening. It's really informative and interesting. For people that have always been aware of and in tune with the sheets, I could see this being a neat trip down memory lane. For those that weren't ever in touch with the news & rumors sort of stuff, there are some brand new talking points.

 

It's a really fun way of putting a new spin on the past - and keeping it interesting with rotating guests, casual conversation, etc. It's been consistently enjoyable every week.

Tatanka actually does come back in 1996 and sticks around until after Mania. He gets a match with Bret on Raw but doesn't do much else. The WWE's official line was that he was taking care of family issues and I believe Tatanka has said in shoots that he needed to get off the road and save his marriage.

When was the controversy with Tatanka having an affair with Paul Diamonds wife (or vice versa)?

As much as Kevin Dunn should get crapped on for putting way too much emphasis on the ENTERTAINMENT of Sports Entertainment, I think you are being a bit too hard on it when it comes to pro wrestling.

 

Well, in terms of the idea that Dunn was following trends going on with how the NFL, NBA, MLB NCAA hoops and football, and other major non pre-determined sports were being presented. And this sort of stuff was starting as back as the 1970s with Monday Night Football! To say nothing about the rise of SportsCenter highlights on ESPN and all sports TV networks since the late 1980s.

 

I get the general idea that having cameras "always there for the perfect shot" takes away from the "you are watching a sports exhibition" feel, but in general, how often are big moments NOT captured in the perfect way possible in any of the major sports on TV? And that has been the case for 30, 40 years now.

The most admirable part of this so far is the consistency of putting it out every week. So many promising podcasts start off with erratic scheduling and end up losing their footing, while the best find their audience and momentum by delivering on a routine day/time. Keep it up dudes!

I have NO IDEA what you're talking about...

I loved how at 1st Zellner no sold the Jem and the holograms reference. Then Bix won't let him. Then Johnny P talks about his experience with Jem . Then it turns full circle and Zellner knows when it got cancelled.

HAHA! Nice, Pete. Thank you. Was thinking of asking Zellner, deadpan, "Does it say in your notes, and I don't know if this was Meltzer or Keller reporting this, that Jem was 'mysterious,' because in her own theme song she self-reports to being 'adventure,' 'excitement,' & also claims to be 'truly outrageous,' and given that fact it seems odd to call her 'mysterious' in the sheets...." but Bix beat me to it with his theme song rendition.

the WWE style is sort of an odd utopia. Without fail, main events start on time and end on time. There really isn't a state of chaos very often. They've kinda done things the exact same for a long time and I can understand how that could get old.
