Man this was FUN. Poffo is a guy in the WWF who had a lot of good underneath matches with a variety of opponents. He's doing it in Houston as well. Lintz has a unique look. He had to work as a Russian somewhere. He worked a strong manish gimmick here.

Poffo was had a lot of unique offense. It made his shine really standout. He also did a good job of keeping Lintz off balance with his headlock. Lintz was real solid in his heat segment using his strength to keep Poffo down. In Poffo's comeback he gets the win. A really fun undercard bout. 2 1/2*

I don't think Lintz ever actually worked as a Russian. He worked in Southeastern/Continental as South African Boomer T. Lynch and as a Sheik Adnan managed Ali Khan for a short run in AWA. I haven't seen much of the Ali Khan run but I THINK they were playing the gimmick as just him being an American who sold out to Adnan but I'm not sure on that.

Definitely an under rated guy who could show a lot of character in his work and was a pretty good talker in his Boomer Lynch run. Him being completely unknown to most people helped me snag him really late in the fantasy draft. Here is a Boomer promo from Southeastern:

This was pretty fun although the bearhug section felt like it went on a bit too long or at least they could have done more to try and make it interesting. The opening stuff was good and I actually like Lanny working holds a lot more than I like Lanny doing "high flying" offense as I thought his front flip senton followed by a standing moonsault, while an impressive sequence at the time, just looked REALLY light and like it wouldn't have hurt at all.

Lintz is just so expressive in his work I feel like he would have had a really good Memphis run in him and be remembered a lot more if he'd have wound up working there for a stint instead of in the unfortunately off the radar Southeastern/Continental territory.
