I've seen their podcast referenced here & there. If you had to sell someone on it, what would be the pitch? I'm always on board for new stuff, but there's already SO much great content out there - and only so many hours in a day.

I listened to some of the Mania stuff. I think they got better as they went along with less laughing and literally every comment they would make. However, I will say that while I certainly don't mind long shows, seeing some of the run times for their podcasts can be a barrier of entry for me.

You know I've been thinking of Chad and I maybe one day going back over the early shows just because we both know so much more now than when we first started out. There's a huge difference between how I'd view a guy like Johnny Weaver now and how I did in 2012.

Hopefully they do what they did with the WM shows, and upload the Meltzer segments to Youtube. There's some really cool info in those 10-minute bits for each show.

The Lapsed Fan's pros: they simply spend more time and effort to do deeper, more detailed coverage of the individual shows than pretty much any other podcast on the net. Bringing in Meltzer (and occasionally some archived interviews with other people, along with frequent excerpts from printed quotes) adds an extra level of fact-checking on the proceedings. And the one guy's impressions are pretty good and their utterly irreverent sense of humor lend an edgy, fearless gilding to everything.

 

The Lapsed Fan's cons: their podcasts are literally longer than the shows they're reviewing. The "irreverent" humor sometimes comes off as trying too hard, if not downright offensive; I've lost count of the number of times that they've made jokes about Vince bringing Bret back only to hurl Owen's corpse out of the rafters at him. They also spend way too much time digressing into the impressions, sometimes literally half the show is dedicated to that shit. And finally, they seem REALLY self-satisfied and rather arrogant about the quality of their own show, as if they believe their own goofy hype.

I enjoy getting Lapsed across the face each week. They go deep and hard until they finish.

I appreciated the length of the Lapsed Fan podcasts when I was on a cross-country flight to San Francisco last year, for whatever that's worth.

The length of the shows is a total barrier to entry for me. Only ever listened to the Meltzer bits that they've played over at WOR.

I actually have insomnia and since Titans is often recorded at about 3am my time, can tell you that this is factually not accurate.

 

Judy is it just the era, Backlund etc. you don't like? Always interested when peeps listen to WTBBP but not Titans.

I just would like to add that I love Titans AND TLF.

I have to apologise as well, the tone of your posts pushed me over the edge and I kinda went heel. I listen to a lot of podcasts and I appreciate the lengths people go to to put them together and the guys at Lapsed do a good job as you guys at Titans do. Parv the podcast is fine, I went for a reactive bushwacker bite
