I have to admit Warrior no selling the pedigree and pinning HHH with one foot on the chest was an incredible burial but as a kid watching that cocky wimp get dismantled in 30 seconds was pretty epic what are your memories of these matches?
November 28, 20159 yr comment_5712321 Gotta go with the HTM vs. Warrior match. People were dying to see Honky lose and went nuts for The Warrior coming out because they knew it was gonna finally happen and then went even crazier on the finish. The HHH squash wasn't nearly as iconic.
November 28, 20159 yr comment_5712342 Yeah, the Warrior / HTM squash wins and its not close. That is a moment in WWF / Wrestling history that the WM XII wasnt, at all. HTM had that title for a long time and kept sneaking away with it, be it Savage / Steamboat / Beefcake / etc, he kept slinking away by any means he could. When he stands in the ring defiantly and says "bring anyone out here" you just wanted to see him get destroyed...then the music hits, Warrior enters, destroys, and wins...and like that, the HTM's reign is over and his cockiness finally got the best of him as he never even got his jumpsuit off.. Plus, Warrior was still really fresh and on his way up, so the full "Ultimate Warrior" push and huge popularity kicked off from there, where at Mania XII, he was back, but it didnt feel like it did 8 years earlier, and HHH hadnt really been close to any level of upper tier start yet, so the squash was just a squash over a mid-card guy and nothing else. Looking back after seeing where HHH would go, the squash looks impressive, but put it in 96 and it really wasnt more than "Warrior is back and lets have him mow down someone that it wont hurt that bad to get the fans behind him again" kind of thing.
November 28, 20159 yr comment_5712345 Smack hit it on the head. HHH was just another boring midcarder in 1996 so him losing meant nothing. HTM was one of the most reviled and best drawing heels of the Hulkamania WWF and the roof darn near blew off the Garden at his comeuppance.. Always found it odd there's no press slam though.

In the shoot interviews I've seen him questioned about it - specifically with Kayfabe Commentaries, I believe - Ferris seems totally fine with the idea and even brags a bit about how it was such an easy night for such a huge payday. That's what makes it even more startling that he never took the payoff to let Beefcake shave his head like they'd originally planned. He's admitted to nixing that and offering up Jimmy Hart's hair instead.
December 6, 20159 yr comment_5713609 HTM has also said that it made more sense to work with the wrestler's limitations - it would not have best served Warrior or the match to go 20 minutes, etc.
