July 22, 20169 yr comment_5760223 Is there ANY evidence that the talent they're signing is having a negative effect on their bottom line???
July 22, 20169 yr comment_5760225 NXT signings aren't adding a ton of cost to the company, and if they did the cost could be justified by having to fill out two separate shows. They've already made it clear they view NXT as a cost-of-doing-business to build for the future, plus most of the A tour shows are probably drawing enough to balance out some of the costs.
July 22, 20169 yr comment_5760227 I can't see how NXT could possibly be harming WWE's bottom line. What it has done is create a hot new revenue stream that didn't exist before. I'd bet that NXT house shows are doing a hell of a lot more business than random Smackdown house shows used to do during the last brand split, not to mention NXT merchandise, etc.
July 22, 20169 yr comment_5760230 The only way NXT could start harming the bottom line is if the carrot of future WWE paychecks stop being the lure for indy guys it currently is.
July 22, 20169 yr comment_5760241 Meltzer said in June that NXT is still not profitable. For a while they were paying Nakamura a lot of money to work The Drifter on Florida house shows, and they have the cost of trainers and the Performance Center.
July 22, 20169 yr comment_5760305 Vince doesn't answer to shareholders. You could argue that all of the cost-cutting done in 2014 in the wake of the failure of the WWE Network to meet expectations was "answering to shareholders".

You could argue that all of the cost-cutting done in 2014 in the wake of the failure of the WWE Network to meet expectations was "answering to shareholders". You could also counter that argument by pointing out that the McMahon family owns the stock that holds the most weight so in essence they are the shareholders who get answered to the most.
July 28, 20169 yr comment_5760951 Shinsuke Nakamara is amazing. Even in a nothing match against a hopeless jabroni like Wesley Blake, he was still awesome. The mannerisms alone are such money. TM61 did nothing for me. They seemed like a couple of bland jobbers. Then again, I thought the same about The Revival at first, and they're amazing now. If NXT has proved anything, it's that they can turn "workers" into a more complete package - Becky Lynch is another perfect example of that. I wasn't sold on No Way Jose at first, but they've added layers to his character since then. I really dig his angry side and "crazy eyes." Makes no sense from a storyline perspective for Aries to target him - what does Aries get out of it? - but Jose should be able to carry him to a fun match. Kota Ibushi wasn't nearly as impressive against Buddy Murphy. He was still good, mind you, but his match against Sean Maluta in the Cruiserweight Classic was far more compelling, and he felt far more important in that setting. The CWC entrance and graphics don't work well with NXT's presentation. A throwaway show overall, but still fun. BTW, I assume that weird wolf vignette was for Ember Moon.
July 29, 20169 yr comment_5760968 I really think they have something in No Way Jose. I have high hopes for that match with Aries.

I assumed that he picked on Jose because he was frustrated at losing to Nakamura, so decided to take out his frustrations on the happy dancing guy who he assumed was no threat, and is now in a situation where Jose is more fired up than he expected.
July 31, 20169 yr comment_5761123 I hope I always enjoy moments and scenes like this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaB4-v_5ZuI
August 4, 20169 yr comment_5761534 Holy shit, even I felt exhausted just watching the Revival carry TM6Stinks to a halfway good match.
August 4, 20169 yr comment_5761544 Agreed ^. Have they ever said what the hell TM61 stands for? Also, I can't believe that NXT operates on the old territory rule of putting people over on the way out. Was not expecting Mojo to take a beat down on his send off.
August 4, 20169 yr comment_5761547 TM is their initials, and +61 is the international dialing code for Australia
August 4, 20169 yr comment_5761552 I am a few weeks behind but I enjoyed Shane Haste, who was new to me, in their first few matches in NXT. He has this way of reacting to every little thing that happens in the ring that I appreciate.
August 4, 20169 yr comment_5761610 Lots of great stuff this week, but most of it was non match related like Joe being the fucking man, the Asuka/Bayley build, and Roode's debut.
August 6, 20169 yr comment_5761821 Lots of great stuff this week, but most of it was non match related like Joe being the fucking man, the Asuka/Bayley build, and Roode's debut. Perfect description of the show. But did Roode's debut seem relatively heatless to anyone else? He got somewhat of a reaction by the end, but it all felt really small and muted.
August 12, 20169 yr comment_5762952 I liked a lot about this show. Bayley and Asuka were really good, with Bayley trying to Bayley Up as much as she possibly could to try to match the threat of Asuka, even going back into the ring to poke the bear one more time, just to completely guarantee her death. Asuka has kind of been lost in the shuffle since she won the belt, but now that the focus is back on her you remember how effortlessly scary she is. She was a fucking psycho last week in that squash. And here, again Bayley is trying her best to match up with her, but there's really nothing she can do in the face of a fucking velociraptor. I really can't wait for their match, both to see how good it is and how they work it, but also to see what the finish is and how they handle giving one of these girls a loss. Mojo vs Joe was a sight to see, just to watch five minutes of Mojo Fucking Rawley looking like a real wrestler, instead of a football player pretending to be one. His opening flurry and ESPECIALLY that headbutt exchange on the floor were the kind of things you wish he'd always shown (I'm sure WWE wishes too). Joe is so great. AND THEN, just when Joe was being great, SHINSUKE comes out for this big pull apart brawl with the champ, he saunters down, shakes, shimmies, taunts...and then casually pinches Summer Joe's nose. The greatest moment in the history of our great sport. The "GOT YOUR NOSE" chant made my night. Shinsuke has a deathwish, but also he's kind of Shinsuke so he's not actually going to die and these guys are going to beat the utter fuck out of each other and damn how soon is Takeover again? Bobby Roode's Music is fucking EVERYTHING.
August 13, 20169 yr comment_5763167 Bobby Roode's music is GLORIOUS! Man, Asuka is so great. With no effort whatsover she just exudes "psycho-killer".
