Posted December 17, 20159 yr comment_5716289 El Hijo del Santo just made a post about this on Facebook an hour ago, that Lizmark has passed away. He was 66 years old. Official CMLL Twitter account confirms: https://twitter.com/CMLL_OFICIAL/status/677360516298178560
December 17, 20159 yr comment_5716292 That's really sad. I always assumed he'd be one of those guys who lived forever, just because he always seemed to be in such good shape for his age. R.I.P.
December 17, 20159 yr comment_5716423 What a shame. Fantastic worker and great man. I was also shocked at the news - he'd had heart problems for almost a couple of decades but he was a health nut who (as far as I know) lived a fairly clean lifestyle. One of the most graceful flyers from his time for sure. His reputation with co-workers was one like Ricky Steamboat or Ricky Morton: a guy that was easy to work with, would always have a good match, would never hurt you and would never hurt himself. I wonder if we'd talking him up more as a super worker if he had stayed with CMLL and never gone to AAA (he had some great matches there with Parka and Jerry Estrada but never seemed to be a great fit). I have always felt his stock would go up if we had more of his 80s footage.
December 18, 20159 yr comment_5716432 Jose: I always wondered what happened between Dec-02-1983 and Mar-20-1988 when he was without a belt. He was so consistently holding a title when he made the progression through Welterweight and Middleweight division (held a belt for 87% of the time between Apr-20-1978 and Dec-02-1983), then was a dynastic holder in the LHW division in 1988-94. What was he up to in 1985-87 that kept him away from the big EMLL titles?
December 18, 20159 yr comment_5716433 Fuck. Wrestlers are really dropping like flies this year. I can't say I'm aware of his work because I haven't dove that deep into lucha, but I knew of him. RIP.

I'd have guessed they were focusing on Atlantis instead, but Mexican promotions don't work like that. I'll ask Steve Sims.
December 18, 20159 yr comment_5716486 Lizmark spent a lot of time working trios matches with Atlantis and Rayo Jalisco Jr. in those years. After he dropped the NWA World Middleweight title to Satanico at the end of '83, I think he challenged for it again during Satanico's reign, but in the light heavyweight class, Ringo Mendoza and then Rayo Jalisco Jr were the tecnico NWA champs in that time period and nobody seemed to care about the National title. Lizmark was involved in the establishment of the WWA title in '86, but not the promoters choice for the initial champ, which was El Cobrade II.
