Matthew Randazzo wrote a few columns for PowerSlam after Ring of Hell was published, so it could have come from there. My answer is who the f*** knows for sure. That said, even if you take everything with a big pinch of salt from his book and articles, clearly the WWE creative team is a dysfunctional workplace by any normal standards.

I can believe that a staff writer would have had a hard time dealing with Hunter or been intimidated by him. I can believe that Hunter (along with a lot of top guys) would only care enough about the night's script to check if he was winning or losing his match. I can believe that a guy with the sway of Hunter successfully argued to have the finish of a match changed between first draft and the show.

 

I can believe that a lot of kernels of truth went into constructing this story, but the story itself sounds incredibly far fetched.

That's the only way I could believe that story, I could totally see Hunter just fucking with the noobs. Otherwise, it just seems like something written as fanfic designed as fap material for people who think Hunter is the devil.

It was more 50/50. I went through the Ring of Hell Thread a couple of months ago cause I read some chapters of it during a weekend and it was back and forth on what was truth and fiction.

I think we were more inclined to believe it because a lot of us felt like wrestling had no redeeming qualities at all and that everyone involved was corrupt and evil in the wake of how they handled the media post-Benoit. With some distance, I think most of us acknowledge now that wrestling has a dark underbelly, but that it's also a little bit more complex than that, and that a lot of the initial reaction to wrestling circling its wagons was a bit polemic.

Here's the thing. Triple H is noted as a really good corporate guy behind the scenes. A guy that can talk with the media, non-wrestling people etc. And is really good at coming across as professional in his manner.

 

Even if he wanted to manipulate things this blatantly, I legitimately believe he'd be more subtle about it than this based on what we know about him.

This thread gave me false hope for the return of PowerSlam. I was a religious reader of PowerSlam, but don't remember this. I still have some old issues, so if someone has a month or issue number I may be able to verify.

If I was in WWE at the time, why would I give a shit what Al Snow or Bob Holly are doing that night? Also, factor other mental and physical demands on the job, its not that crazy that the last thing on HHH's mind is reading an entire script from start-to-finish.

I think its the unprofessional and pure douchebag piece of shit aspect that people are responding to. Its pretty much a more shit bag like version of Jericho's crumpling up a script and throwing it out while the writer watches story (which Jericho has said happened). And as far as people can tell, Paul Levesque has never been seen to be such an overt unprofessional, even in private. Sure it may be true that he looked at his match's finish and then bitched to get it changed, but to have an unprofessional outburst like that in front of the new writer does smack of something that would be out of character for him, or him ribbing the new writer.

The reason people are doubting it is that HHH, based on rep, seems more likely to start working Vince to make him think it was his idea to change it. Plus, HHH wasn't really known for refusing to do jobs as much as he was doing them in a way that they meant nothing, to people who weren't likely to threaten his spot.
