Road Warriors vs Larry Z/Super Destroyer

Larry makes a good opponent for the Warriors. Larry Z walks off. They destroy Super Destroyer.

Horsemen interview

Dusty Rhodes vs Ivan Koloff

These guys have worked each other all over the world. Ivan shines Dusty up right off the bat. Finally Koloff gets the heat. I like how Ivan focuses on the neck/throat.I liked what we got, but too short to stand out.

Sting/Luger/Windham vs Flair/Tully/Arn

This was a really hot match. For crowd heat it's a slam dunk nomination. For work this is really good. Their is a lot of cool stuff in this. The dynamic between the teams is awesome. The top 3 faces in the NWA vs the 3 best heels in the NWA. All 3 worked really hard and had a tremendous match. Luger did some good work as FIP. They worked a southern tag for 6 here. I loved watching Sting and Luger flex while Barry just stood there. Of course Flair begs off from the pose. The heels were just great at stooging. Arn's bug eyed sell was awesome. Their was some nice false finishes sprinkled in. The actual finish worked for me. High end nomination.

This is the debut show for NWA Main Event and it was promised to be a show full of stars....it was for a while at least.

The Road Warriors (Animal & Hawk) vs. Super Destroyer & Larry Zbyszko (3/31/88)

Larry leaves the fake Super D to get destroyed by the Roadies as the crowd goes nuts.

Next we get a promo from the Horsemen about their match coming up later in the show with Luger, Sting, & Windham.

US Heavyweight Title: "American Dream" Dusty Rhodes © vs. "Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff (3/31/88)

Two old rivals meeting one more time in a big singles match on TV. The Spartanburg crowd is apeshit for Dusty chanting USA. Dusty is fun early on doing what he does to Koloff hitting all his key spots before Ivan starts working him over. Koloff missed a diving knee off the top rope and Dusty locked him up in the Figure-Four but Paul Jones attacked Dusty as Tommy Young was paying attention to Ivan. Koloff started back working over Dusty but Dusty broke free to attack Jones then hit a cross body block off the top rope to win the match. Fun for what it was.

"The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, & "Nature Boy" Ric Flair vs. "Total Package" Lex Luger, Sting, & Barry Windham (3/31/88)

This is a helluva way to main event a new TV show and the Spartanburg crowd is molten hot for this whole thing. We have some clipping but this is a really damn fun match with the faces dominating to start and the Horsemen of course are great at bumping and selling. Arn would nuke Luger with the DDT and that started the Horsemen offensive barrage as all three of them got their shots in on Luger who was very good at playing FIP. Windham got the hot tag and ran wild before flying over the top rope to the floor and this is where the match broke down. Dillon threw some knux at Tully who decked Windham numerous times in the head before pinning him to win. Different finish and this was a blast that moves forward fairly easily.
