Ric Flair vs. Sam Houston

- I know Loss keeps referring to the Flair vs. George South match (which I have never seen) but I think we should start referring to Flair giving more to a lesser opponent as the Flair-Sam Houston match. Flair gives a ton to Flair who seems more concerned with showing off to Magnum TA on the outside than putting Houston away inside the ring. Houston doesn’t have interesting offense but Flair is so great that he makes vanilla wrestlers like Houston look like they have a chance of getting the upset. Flair eventually damages the leg, does his leg work and puts Houston away with the Figure-4. This was a one man show and may not make the final cut but deserves some consideration at showing how great Flair can be. After the match, the Flair-TA saga continues as Magnum makes Flair break the submission. Even if this does not make the cut, it will go on as part of the Flair-Magnum feud. If it goes on, we’ll include the pre-match and post match interviews as part of the match.

Ric Flair vs Sam Houston

I'm on the fence on this as a nomination. Flair was great here. His workrate combined with his charisma made this match. He made Houston look like a viable threat. Then we get the finish that proves Flair is the man. A possible extra we could do a to be the man and put matches that don't make the set where we see Flair do carry jobs like here, South etc.

This starts with Flair & Magnum again having a face-to-face deal with Flair acting like a complete prick trying to piss off Magnum.

Ivan & Nikita Koloff vs. Randy Barber & Phil Strickland (5/18/85)

The fans continue to give the Koloff's shit but it doesn't stop them from beating down these guys.

Buddy Landell & JJ Dillon are out next talking about how Dillon is the one that made him move to the NWA to become a major player. Landell talks about how Flair replaced someone else and now he is going to replace him because he is an old man. Budro is on fire here and I think this promo was done because they were just showing Landell doing jobs on Mid-South TV taped over a month ago at the same time on TBS. Extra material.

"Mr. Unpredictable" Dick Slater vs. Golden Terror (5/18/85)

Slater is no longer in the monkey suit and he has no issues beating Terror here.

Tully & Baby Doll are out next for a promo talking about Dusty Rhodes talking about how great he is and how Tully beat him for the title clean. Tully rips on the fans saying that there is one class person in the crowd because he was wearing a Tully shirt.

Black Bart vs. Paul Garner (5/18/85)

Easy win for Bart.

Dusty is out next for a promo talking about Flair & Tully and how he is coming for them. Dusty talks about how Slater is back in town and he hadn't seen him in months which was hilarious talking about getting the NWA World Tag Titles from the Koloffs. This is a good Dusty promo.

Outlaw Ron Bass vs. Rocky King (5/18/85)

King tries to fight Bass but he fails miserably as Bass batters him them puts on the Iron Claw to win.

NWA World TV Title: Tully Blanchard © vs. Mike Nichols (5/18/85)

Another easy title defense for Tully.

Black Bart is out next demanding a shot at a title especially Ronnie Garvin's National Heavyweight Title.

"Nature Boy" Ric Flair vs. Sam Houston (5/18/85)

Magnum is on commentary and Flair is in full showoff mode because of it. Flair doesn't take Houston seriously at all and thinks it will be a piece of cake but Sam is pumped up because of Flair's disrespect with Magnum pumping Sam up on commentary. Flair is so good at making Houston look like he could beat him and the story told in this match is great. Flair gets pissed at Houston for putting up such a fight and just beats the piss out of him then after the match he tries to break his leg with the figure-four so Magnum comes in the ring and breaks the hold himself. Flair then shoves Magnum and Magnum takes his shirt off but Flair walks off. I think the whole presentation makes this a nomination.

Valiant then cuts a promo and he has his full voice back and he talks about his war some more as well as saying that he would pay and see Flair vs. Magnum.

Abdullah the Butcher vs. Ron Rossi (5/18/85)

Abby kills poor Rossi.

Dusty Rhodes is out next with his former gorilla Dick Slater who was revealed at The Omni the Sunday before and I fucking loved Slater the babyface....Slater is the template for Dean Ambrose as he talks about monkeying around getting protein. Extra material.

The Koloffs are out next talking about Dusty & Slater with Ivan saying that there are tough challengers all over the board and they are ready for anybody. Nikita of course said all Americans will go down.

Magnum TA vs. Carl Styles (5/18/85)

Magnum wins yet again quickly with the Belly-To-Belly Suplex.

Flair is then back out and said he will take care of Magnum and anyone else that gets in his way. Flair then talks shit on everyone especially Landell saying that he gets his clothes from K-Mart and this is glorious. Definite extra.

"Nature Boy" Buddy Landell vs. Dale Williams (5/18/85)

Flair got Landell pumped up and he took it out on Williams here just manhandling him.

Magnum then comes back out and he is intense wanting to take Flair's title.

Bart is back out again talking about the babyfaces in the area especially Ronnie Garvin saying that his hands of stone won't mess up his face because it's already messed up.

"Boogie Woogie Man" Jimmy Valiant vs. Jimmy Dills (5/18/85)

Valiant is back in action and mauls this guy as Paul Jones watches from the announce desk and Valiant yelling at him.

Paul Jones then talks about how Tully has paid him for the services of Abdullah the Butcher to take care of Dusty Rhodes and Jones said that Dusty is going to be taken care of. Jones then talks about Valiant's War and that he will end the war soon.

Handicap Match: Nikita Koloff vs. Mark Cooper & Gerald Finley (5/18/85)

Obviously something happened here as Nikita worked twice and they had pimped a National Heavyweight Title match between Ronnie Garvin & Buddy Landell for the show which didn't happen either.
