Two epic matches on this show

Ole Anderson v. Magnum T.A.

Pretty unbelievable that on a show with Garvin v. Flair, this was the stiffer match. T.A. is throwing Necro Butcher level punches, and Ole seems to be potating him in the back of the head and even hits an awesome mafia kick. Force behind everything they did. Goes 20+ on TV I could see this being a top 20 match in a 80-85 NWA set.

Ronnie Garvin v. Ric Flair

Garvin had alot of weird athletic spots at this time, headscissors, big sunset flips, jumping headbutts. Of course this had alot of really violent chops, which is what you want from Garvin v. Flair. Garvin had great punches, but you forget Flair could throw hands too. Excellent stuff, not as good as their later series, but an easy pick

The show starts with Dusty coming out for a promo talking about Flair putting up the NWA Title against Garvin later as well as Magnum putting up the US Title against Ole. Dusty also promised to cut his hair which is nice.

Sam Houston vs. Tony Zane

Sam breaking out a cartwheel was a nice touch here. Sam starts off strong working over Zane's left arm but Zane comes back with some hard shots until Sam hits a bulldog headlock out of nowhere dropping Zane on his head to win.

Tully is out for a promo next saying that he wants Magnum again but he wants that NWA World TV Title as well.

Corny comes out next for a promo on the RnR Express demanding a shot at the NWA World Tag Titles in a really fun promo.

The Midnight Express ("Loverboy" Dennis Condrey & "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton) vs. Mark Cooper & Josh Stroud

The MX just destroy these guys but the most important thing happened on commentary where David & Tony both speculated why Baby Doll wasn't with Tully during his promo.

Arn Anderson vs. George South

Arn picks apart South in a great way and talks shit on Dusty throughout until using the Gourdbuster to win.

Flair then comes out for a promo in his robe talking mad shit and this is great stuff. Extra material.

Rocky King vs. Mac Jeffers

This is a rare jobber match although Rocky did have a little shine put him when he was teaming with Valiant months earlier. Nice little spotlight win for Rocky who won with a powerslam.

Magnum comes out for a promo next talking up his match with Ole on TV and a future match with Flair.

Black Bart vs. Jim Jeffers

Not a good day for the future Mod Squad that's for sure.

Corny then comes back out for a promo where he gives Tony a new tie with tennis rackets on it which was nice. Corny shames RnR more into defending the titles against the MX. Corny then steals the tie and walks off. Another good promo.

US Heavyweight Title: Magnum TA © vs. Ole Anderson

Magnum starts off strong but Ole would gain control and would of course focus on Magnum's left arm. Ole is vicious working over the arm using headbutts and such but Magnum comes firing back with right hands until Ole sucker punches him down to the mat. Magnum then tries working over Ole's left arm but that doesn't last long as Ole uses roughhouse tactics to make Magnum miserable. This is now turning into a grueling battle with both men taking turns working over the other one and both being weakened from the punishment. Ole throwing Magnum shoulder first into the ringpost seemed like a key spot but Ole didn't work over the arm and just went with a reverse chinlock as Arm comes to ringside to cheer him on. Dusty then walks out to cheer on Magnum which sparks him to make a comeback where he gets a big nearfall after a back blow. The fans are going nuts for everything as it seemed like Magnum is in trouble after a nearfall after a big boot by Ole. Ole then tries for a piledriver which gets countered and Magnum comes back with a dropkick for a nearfall. Again this becomes back and forth with both men giving as good as they were getting featuring a big match quality that you rarely got on TBS these days. Magnum had Ole pinned when the bell rang signifying a draw but Jim Crockett came out and said that this match must end on a pinfall or submission so they restarted the match with Ole going back to work on Magnum then Arn would trip up Magnum prompting Dusty to attack him and Magnum got Ole in an O'Connor Roll to win the match. This was a total blast and an easy nomination.

Jim Crockett then says that the Championship Challenge series will continue with a special show on February 7th on a prime time special on WTBS. Crockett then says the fans will pick the matches.

NWA World Heavyweight Title: "Nature Boy" Ric Flair © vs. "Hands of Stone" Ronnie Garvin

Well we go from one stellar match to this one. Jesus Christ what a fucking match this was....we got the best of both men here as they beat the holy piss out of each other in an epic battle to see who was the toughest man between these two. The emotion these two men put forth here is amazing and Flair never worked a match with any other opponent like he did with Garvin. Garvin was the most unique guy Flair ever wrestled in a regular basis and this match is one of their best ever until the finish when Flair threw down Steven Gregory for the DQ then you got Dusty, the Andersons, Magnum, Sam Houston, and more involved. This was an amazing match and a slam dunk nomination.

Flair & the Andersons cut a promo afterwards about everything that just happened and it's a definite extra.

Italian Stallion vs. Pablo Crenshaw

Now Stallion gets a spotlight match and I loved Crenshaw's hot pink tights here.

JJ Dillon is out next for a promo where he talks about 1986 will be a big year for him....I'll say. Dillon also talks about Tully cutting a promo without Baby Doll and that he handled Baby Doll's travel arrangements to Acapulco. This was great foreshadowing. Definite extra.

Dusty then comes out next for a promo as he is pissed about getting jumped earlier and he wants Flair and the Andersons to come out for a fight. Garvin & Magnum are with him wanting war and they will find them.

Tully Blanchard vs. Kent Glover

During the match, David leaves to go to the back because of a situation and Tully puts Glover away easily with the Slingshot Suplex.

US Heavyweight Title: Magnum TA © vs. Ole Anderson

This is a high end nomination. Man I loved Ole's downward punches. I also loved the rabbit punches from Ole. This was a back and forth backroom brawl. Magnum brings a ton of intensity and throws some wicked punches. The presentation was so great too. This is why wrestling is so great.

Ric Flair vs Ronnie Garvin

High end nomination. I thought this was phenomenal. It was intense right at the lock up. This was just a hard hitting affair. Both guys just brought the intesity. Those Garvin jumping head butts were wicked. The slaps to Flair jaw were nasty and knocked the taste out of them. We get a Flair Flop in fast forward and that was awesome. This might be the most represented match on the set, and this might be might #3 on Flair's best opponents for matches.

Flair & the Andersons cut a promo afterwards about everything that just happened and it's a definite extra. I agree

I agree
