Posted April 10, 200817 yr comment_5430591 NWA WCW 6/15/85 Tony Schiavone announces David Crockett injury at the hands of Nikita Koloff - I am debating on including this as an extra. I want him hitting Crockett with the sickle but don’t know what show it is on. Magnum TA Interview Dick Slater & Buzz Sawyer vs. Ron Rossi & Mark Hill Manny Fernandez Interview Manny Fernandez vs. Randy Barber Dusty Rhodes Interview (great Rhodes interview on Tully Blanchard. Extra) Jimmy Valiant vs. Larry Clarke Ric Flair Interview Kimala vs. Alan Martin Magnum TA vs. Paul Stiles Dick Slater & Buzz Sawyer Interview Arn Anderson & Ole Anderson vs. Joe Lightfoot & Italian Station (National Tag Team Titles) - I was really digging this one, and surprisingly it was because of Italian Stallion. This isn’t nomination material or anything but a fun 5 minutes. The Andersons injure Joe Lightfoot’s arm and get the pin. Tully Blanchard Interview Ivan Koloff & Nikita Koloff Interview (6/2/85) (Extra) - This sets up the Flair feud for the summer. Barbarian vs. Jason Walker Tully Blanchard vs. Gerald Finley Ric Flair Interview (Extra for Flair-Magnum feud or set up for next match) Ric Flair vs. Magnum TA - This was a good TV match but I feel like it was more part of the angle than it was a great match. Really, with Arn and Ole on the outside, you were waiting around for Flair and Magnum to finish their stuff so they could do the run-in. Definitely part of the Flair-Magnum feud but not a nomination.
January 14, 20169 yr comment_5720648 Magnum TA promo Slater/Sawyer vs Hill/Rossi Raging Bull promo Manny Fernandez vs Barber Dusty Rhodes promo from his desk-EXTRA Jimmy Valiant vs Larry Clarke Flair promo Kamala vs Magnum TA vs Sawyer and Slater promo Andersons vs Itallion Stalllion/Joe Lightfoot This was a fun little studio bout. The Andersons are so good working on top. Tully Blanchard promo Koloff interview Barbarian vs Jason Walker Tully Blanchard vs Gerald Findley Flair promo and Magnum does the 1,000 dollar challenge- EXTRA Ric Flair vs Magnum TA This is a solid nomination. This is the 1,0000 dollar challenge. This was a real good angle to set up the match. We start off with a little struggle that eventually Flair gets the advantage. Flair starts his heat segment and he's full of cocky vigor. They're cutting a pretty good pace. TA takes a shoulder bump and Flair is all over it. He's even slapping TA in the face. What a heel. Eventually TA makes a comeback and now Flair takes a shoulder bump. TA is a house of fire. Flair is bumping and selling all of TA's offense. Magnum has Flair in the Figure 4 as the bell rings. It's a draw and we have a feud that should draw money. Post match attack is the icing. The whole presentation is top notch here.
September 12, 20169 yr comment_5767848 Tony starts the show alone and talks about why David Crockett isn't there with him and that's because of him being attacked by Nikita Koloff recently.Magnum comes out and said that Flair can't beat him and that it's just a matter of time before he takes his title from him."Mad Dog" Buzz Sawyer & "Mr. Unpredictable" Dick Slater vs. Mark Hill & Ron Rossi (6/15/85)Sawyer & Slater just toy with these guys before finishing them off.Manny comes out next for a promo talking about families battling each other and that he is going to get Dusty back as his partner and they are going to take the NWA Tag Titles back from the Koloffs."Ragin Bull" Manny Fernandez vs. Randy Barber (6/15/85)Manny takes care of Barber who also liked to call himself a raging bull fairly easily here.Tony then explains why Dusty isn't at TV today and they show the angle where Baby Doll wearing a wig threw a fireball in his face in Greensboro on 6/8/85. Dusty first though cuts a promo in his office listening to some David Allan Coe and talks about them trying to take away his livelihood which is tough because he has a 2-year-old son (Cody) at home he has to take care of. Dusty is extremely pissed and says that he will take out Tully. Definite extra."Boogie Woogie Man" Jimmy Valiant vs. Larry Clarke (6/15/85)Valiant dances around and it's play time for him as he mauls Clarke.Flair is out next where he has a moment of silence for the Boston Celtics who just lost to Flair's beloved Los Angeles Lakers in the 1985 NBA Finals. Flair is great here talking shit. Extra material.Kamala vs. Alan Martin (6/15/85)Kamala & Skandor Akbar at TBS Studios was such an odd sight at the time but they were building for the Magnum/Kamala match at the Bash. Magnum does commentary here as Kamala squashes Martin.Magnum TA vs. Carl Styles (6/15/85)Magnum wins very quickly.Sawyer & Slater are out next for a promo talking about the Andersons with Slater also getting his shots in on Flair saying that Flair is scared to defend against him in Georgia.National Tag Titles: The Minnesota Wrecking Crew (Arn & Ole Anderson) © vs. Italian Stallion & Joe Lightfoot (6/15/85)Lightfoot gets a title shot in his debut which is something but he was a favorite of Ole's going back to GCW. The faces put up a small fight here but the Andersons dominate them fairly easily.Tully & Baby Doll are out next for a promo talking about Dusty crying at home about being injured and how he & Baby Doll always rough him up.Next we get a promo from the Koloffs backstage at The Omni where he talks about Flair does nothing but run from him and they will follow him wherever he goes. The Barbarian vs. Jason Walker (6/15/85)Barbarian wins very easily here.NWA World TV Title: Tully Blanchard © vs. Gerald Finley (6/15/85)Finley dropkicked Tully in the back at the bell and almost pinned him which got the fans hot and Tully flustered. Tully would then drop Finley with a Slingshot Suplex quickly after that though.$1,000 Challenge: "Nature Boy" Ric Flair vs. Magnum TA (6/15/85)This is just a great spectacle as it's the TV payoff for the past month of promos and angles the wrestlers do a tremendous job of working this 10:00 match. Both men brought it at a fast pace and with intensity in everything they did while Arn & Ole were doing commentary at ringside which added even more to it. The stretch run for this was fantastic especially Tony Schiavone doing PBP and this whole deal is a definite nomination.
