Posted January 20, 20169 yr comment_5722019 I love that the intro for Portland Wrestling features a lot of clips from Starrcade 83."Mean" Mike Miller vs. Joey Jackson (7/12/86)This was a decent veteran heel vs. young babyface match where Miller gets pushed by Jackson but hits his neckbreaker to win.Next we get a promo from Stoney Burke who forgets what he wants to say and this is just a terrible promo.Stoney Burke vs. Tarzan White (7/12/86)Tarzan White looks like a bootleg David Shultz and this match was so bland. The best part of the match is Don Coss on the announcing talking about the hottest team on Turner television coming in August but said it wasn't the Rock n Roll Express. No such team came in. This goes to a time limit draw. Then we get promos from Brady Boone & Scott Doring about The Clan stealing their Northwest Tag Title belts. This was better than Burke but it ain't saying much.Scott Doring vs. Abudadein (7/12/86)Don Owen saying that Abuddadein was from the "Near East" cracked me up. Abudadein was Rocky Iaukea aka King Curtis Iaukea's son and he's working a sheik gimmick. The 1st fall was nothing special with Abudadein getting DQed for using fingers to the throat. Between falls we get promos from Mike Miller & Abudadein talking about the Northwest Tag Titles and Abudadein EASILY cuts the best promo on this show. The 2nd fall starts with 2 minutes left of TV time and of course they would go to a draw. The amount of empty seats on this show is staggering.Next we get a promo from Rip Oliver about throwing salt in Cocoa Samoa's eyes which he denied.Tama Samoa vs. Tarzan White (7/19/86)This was the best match I've seen so far but that isn't saying a whole lot as it wasn't really good. Then we get promos from Scott Doring & the debuting Ricky Santana who is dressed exactly like Sonny Crockett from Miami Vice.Brady Boone vs. Joey Jackson (7/19/86)This is a babyface match and Boone was a good worker but still couldn't make this match that interesting. The finish was all sorts of sloppy too.Next we get promos from Boone & Cocoa Samoa about their issues with The Clan.Cocoa Samoa vs. "The Crippler" Rip Oliver (7/19/86)Cocoa is wearing an eyepatch selling his eye injury from the previous week. Oliver tries to stall but Cocoa doesn't let that happen and just starts teeing off on him. Cocoa keeps shoving Sandy Barr away and Oliver would give Cocoa a shot to the throat for a DQ to end the 1st fall. Between falls we get a promo from The Clan about their enemies. Cocoa catches Oliver with a shot as he comes to the ring to start the 2nd fall and he continues to beat his ass on the floor throwing some fierce shots. Both men would get counted out during this brawling and this was highly unsatisfying as this was easily the best thing so far. Then we get another promo from Abudadein & Miller with Abudadein exposing Santana as a Cuban not someone from Texas.Stoney Burke vs. Tama Samoa (7/26/86)Another babyface match here and again it's pretty bland and boring. Don Coss talks about that team on Turner television again and says they are called The Santa Fe Express which I have no idea who that was. At least these guys were going for pinfalls as the time ran out.Next we get a promo from Ricky Santana & Vinnie Valentino and man their attire is hilarious as Santana looks like a member of The Fantastics while Valentino is wearing a crochet type jacket....Ricky Santana vs. Chris Colt (7/26/86)YAY CHRIS COLT SAVES THE DAY!!!!!!!!! Colt is wearing tape around his midsection selling some injured ribs. We get more of Colt vs. Sandy Barr and Colt vs. Grandma in the front row which is AWESOME....This match is fun as hell as you get some fun action but it's Colt's performance that puts it over the top. I think this should go on the set and I desperately want a Colt TV matches extras disc because he is so great.Cocoa Samoa cuts a promo next with his eye heavily bandaged where he vows to destroy Oliver brudda.Northwest Heavyweight Title: "The Crippler" Rip Oliver © vs. Cocoa Samoa (7/26/86)Oliver is stalling early on and Cocoa is letting him do it which is stupid since he is supposed to hate his ass. The intensity is lacking big time to me as Cocoa is plodding and slow and lets Oliver recover from his offense. Oliver would use cheapshots to get the advantage working over Cocoa's eye and throat. Cocoa though would catch Oliver offguard with a flying chop to the throat to win the 1st fall. Between the falls we get promos from Boone & Doring and this was terrible. The 2nd fall starts with about 4 minutes left in the show and Cocoa comes out firing away but would hit Sandy Barr by mistake due to Oliver putting him in the way causing a DQ. Terrible finish here my god.The Clan cuts a promo next talking about being great champions.Tama Samoa vs. Chris Colt (8/2/86)Holy shit Colt is talking mad shit before the match to Tama, the fans, Sandy Barr and gets dropkicked from the apron to the floor which was great. Colt gets more offense in here than he did against Santana and he talks way more shit pissing the fans off. Tama going across the ring under the ring to dropkick Colt from behind to the floor was great. Colt then got to walk around the ring and jaw with grandma which was fun. Colt's non chalant cheating here is fantastic as he doesn't give a shit about what Sandy Barr thinks. Tama wins with a sunset flip with Colt making a great face on the way down. Again this was way more fun than it should've been thanks to Colt and I think this is a low-end nomination.Next we get a promo from Cocoa & Santana talking about coming for The Clan.Ricky Santana vs. Joey Jackson (8/2/86)Santana comes out to Sharp Dressed Man by ZZ Top so yes he is doing a Fantastics tribute gimmick full force now. This looked to be a babyface match but Jackson came in aggressive trying to win but he sucked at doing it. Santana takes care of him fairly easily. Then we get another promo from Boone & Doring and yikes this was not good.Cocoa Samoa vs. "The Crippler" Rip Oliver (8/2/86)This is a non-title match and they are burning this match to death in this town with shitty finishes and guess what happens here. Oliver wins the 1st fall with his shoulderbreaker and this had some good action but sure enough in the 2nd fall we get a fucking DQ finish with Oliver attacking Sandy Barr and the match is thrown out with Boone & Doring running Oliver out of the ring. Terrible booking. Between falls we got promos from Abudadein & Miller and after the match we get promos from an angry Cocoa along with Boone & Doring.Tama Samoa vs. Stoney Burke (8/9/86)Yet again another bland and boring babyface match. There is actually a boring chant which is funny. Tama actually gets a pinfall so no time limit draw.Next we get promos from Cocoa & Santana where Cocoa speaks Samoan and they talk about The Clan.Abudadein & "The Crippler" Rip Oliver vs. Brady Boone & Scott Doring (8/9/86)The 1st fall was all about getting over Doring's power advantage and Boone's speed with both heels stooging for well for them. Boone throws a great dropkick on Abudadein then hits a pretty nice huracarana on him to take the fall. Boone & Doring then cut a promo between falls. The 2nd fall is all heels as they get revenge on Boone quickly but Doring comes in hot until he gets taken out by the Koloff's tag finisher to even the falls. Abudadein & Miller cut a promo between falls. The 3rd fall starts up with 1 minute left and we end up with a draw. This was an okay match but not a nomination. The Clan then cuts a group promo afterwards.Scott Doring vs. Tarzan White (6/28/86)This was not good at all.Next we get promos from Burke, Nick Kiniski & Tama and wow this is bad.Northwest Heavyweight Title: "The Crippler" Rip Oliver © vs. "Soulman" Rocky Johnson (6/28/86)This was kinda fun as Rocky brought a different element to PNW at this time compared to the other babyfaces as he was experienced and the fans were really into him. Oliver did a good job of selling everything for Rocky who was throwing great dropkicks and jabs. Oliver gets DQed for choking Rocky on the top rope which sucked and this was a one fall match. TERRIBLE BOOKING.Then we get promos from the new Northwest tag champs in Abudadein & Mike Miller who are gloating about their victory.Abudadein vs. Brady Boone (6/28/86)Boone stepping on Abudadein's glasses to start the match was fun and then they started scrapping with Boone sending him to the floor which was also fun. Boone was throwing some really good dropkicks here trying to one up Rocky and they did the job. Boone looked really motivated here using his athleticism to keep the advantage on Abudadein but Boone would soon eat some offense which was done well. The action had a good pace and both men were trying really hard before the match would go to a time limit draw.Next we get promos from Cocoa & Boone about losing the tag titles to Abudadein & Miller and they want the belts back."Playboy" Buddy Rose vs. The Assassin (11/26/83)YAY BABYFACE BUDDY!!!!! and of course Assassin is David Sierra. Buddy starts out strong but Assassin would take over working over Buddy's left arm but Buddy would come back with a headscissors where he untied the mask. Assassin would send Buddy to the floor where he jacked his jaw but Buddy would come back in going for the mask and almost gets it off but fails. Assassin would then load up his mask and headbutted Rose in the gut then choked him on the bottom rope to get DQed to end the 1st fall. The 2nd fall starts up with Buddy coming out strong until Assassin headbutted him in the gut again then dropped him neck first on the top rope but Buddy would respond in kind though and then tied him up in the ropes so he could gop for the mask but would get raked in the eyes. Assassin would try to piledrive Buddy on the floor but Buddy came back with a backdrop then brought it back to the ring where he got an abdominal stretch but that was broken up when Assassin grabbed the hair. Rose went back after the mask yet again and TV time would run out in the process. This was really fun but not enough meat for a nomination.Northwest Tag Titles: The Assassin & Dynamite Kid © vs. Billy Jack & "Playboy" Buddy Rose (11/19/83)This had a great start with all four men working at a fast pace and the fans were going nuts for everything. Billy press slamming DK like he was nothing as great and the Billy/Rose team were really fun while DK was bumping and selling hard. Assassin came in and he suffered more of the same as Billy & Buddy were tagging in and out just working over the champs. Rose would get caught though and worked FIP which he was perfect for and he made Dynamite look like a whilrbeater. Buddy would hit a desperation atomic drop on DK who went flying from the ring to the floor but Assassin made a blind tag and used his loaded mask to headbutt Buddy from behind to win the 1st fall. The 2nd fall started up with Buddy taking more punishment from the champs with them working over his left arm but Buddy would get the hot tag to Billy who ran wild on DK with diving elbow drops getting a nearfall. DK though would send Billy to the corner hard with an irish whip and brought Assassin back in who continued the pressure on Billy. Buddy would come back in soon then tagged Billy back in where he dropped him with a stomach breaker as Buddy sent DK flying off the top rope with a press slam to win the 2nd fall. We get a promo from Buddy between falls talking about Pat McGhee (Scott McGhee) coming in. The 3rd fall starts up with the babyfaces isolating the Assassin in their part of the ring where they could beat him down before it ends up with Dynamite & Billy going toe to toe with DK really pounding on Billy but Billy would make a comeback tearing up DK before the match ends in a draw. This was a damn good match and a fairly easy nomination.Scott Doring vs. "Vicious" Verne Siebert (8/16/86)Hey it's the guy we got these discs from! This match wasn't really good but Verne was pretty entertaining here with the fans mocking Verne for his gear which was fun then he wanted to pose against Doring which was crazy then wanting to do all kinds of strength moves. This was easily Doring's best match but it ain't saying much.Next we get a promo from Abudadein & Miller who now have both Northwest Tag Title belts.Abudadein vs. Vinnie Valentino (8/16/86)The story of this match is Abudadein's massive amount of stalling which would make Larry Zbyszko proud. The match when there wasn't stalling was okay as both men did work hard but it fell apart fierce in the 2nd fall. Then we get a promo from Cocoa & Santana about coming for The Clan with a promo from Oliver afterwards where he talks about The Clan was coming for some cowgirls in a town they are running. Oliver also shows a picture of Bruiser Brody who he is bringing in to help The Clan.
