Posted February 27, 20169 yr comment_5729600 Tully vs Sam Houston This is a low end nomination. This was a fun match and shows the greatness of Tully. Houston has a lot of fire here and really brings it. The finish was basic, but smart when doing this type of match Billy Jack vs Arn vs MX vs Flair vs Sam Houston A low end nomination. This was a nice t.v bout. I love these main eventer's vs. underneath guys. Flair and the Horseman are masters of this. We get a little back and forth. Flair takes a powder and begis to shine up Houston. Flair would get some quick heel cut offs, but Houston would show moxie and turn the tide back to his favor. Flair gets some heat on Houston with some nice suplexes to show his superority. Again Houston fights from underneath and makes a comeback but misses a cross body which results in losing via Figure 4. Post match Arn comes out for a beatdown. Dusty comes out for the save. This was worked perfectly for what they were trying to do. NWA TV 85-86 Disc 1 Battle Royal No Finish Ron Bass vs JJ Dillon This is a bull rope match. EXTRA Harley Race vs Magnum TA vs Barbarian This was fun. Just not enough for a nom. Flair vs Magnum This is a solid nomination. This is the 1,0000 dollar challenge. This was a real good angle to set up the match. We start off with a little struggle that eventually Flair gets the advantage. Flair starts his heat segment and he's full of cocky vigor. They're cutting a pretty good pace. TA takes a shoulder bump and Flair is all over it. He's even slapping TA in the face. What a heel. Eventually TA makes a comeback and now Flair takes a shoulder bump. TA is a house of fire. Flair is bumping and selling all of TA's offense. Magnum has Flair in the Figure 4 as the bell rings. It's a draw and we have a feud that should draw money. Post match attack is the icing. The whole presentation is top notch here. nwa tv 85-86 dIsc 1 Flair/Andersons vs MagnVum TA/Dusty/ Manny This is a solid nomination. The star of this match is Manny. He was good in the FIP role, and even better as an ass kicker. The match begins with the Horseman stooge and shine up the faces. Then they cut off Magnum. He goes FIP then we go to a commercial. We come back and TA is still selling. We go and we get another shine segment. The shine ends with Manny in FIP this good until Manny makes his comeback. We get a big brawl at the end with a killer finish. As a topper we get a quick post match. Really good stuff. NWA TV 85-86 Sam Houston vs. Krusher Khruschev (1/11/86 = World Championship Wrestling 1/11/86) I really like this dynamic. Krusher working the arm early. Sam working the leg. This is a great showcase match for Sam. Krusher is selling the leg big. This is a real meat and potatoes match. This is one of the best Krusher performances. The Road Warriors brawling with the Koloffs. Super fun finish. Low-End Nomination NWA TV 85-86 Disc1 Ric Flair vs Ron Garvin High end nomination. I thought this was phenomenal. It was intense right at the lock up. This was just a hard hitting affair. Both guys just brought the intesity. Those Garvin jumping head butts were wicked. The slaps to Flair jaw were nasty and knocked the taste out of them. We get a Flair Flop in fast forward and that was awesome. This might be the most represented match on the set, and this might be might #3 on Flair's best opponents for matches. NWA TV 85-86 Disc1 MX vs Bass/Kernodle A solid match, but not nom worthy. Flair/Arn vs Garvin/Dusty This was a super hot match.Just not enough
November 24, 20169 yr comment_5776555 US Heavyweight Title: Tully Blanchard © vs. Sam Houston (10/8/85)Ronnie Garvin & Magnum TA were with David on commentary to start the match but Magnum came ringside trying to piss off Tully until Tommy Young made him leave. Tully worked over Sam pretty good until Sam made a fiery comeback. Baby Doll would assist Tully though and he got the Slingshot Suplex to win before Ronnie Garvin ran out to help Sam. Tully would KO Garvin with a foreign object until Magnum made the save.Next we get clips of the Russians beating the RnR for the NWA World Tag Titles.Billy Jack Haynes vs. Mac Jeffers (10/29/85)This is Billy Jack's debut on Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling.Arn Anderson vs. Mac Jeffers (10/28/85)Easy win for Arn.The Midnight Express ("Loverboy" Dennis Condrey & "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton) vs. Gene Ligon & Ron Rossi (10/28/85)Total squash."Nature Boy" Ric Flair vs. Sam Houston (11/12/85)Sam gives Flair fits here when he can but Flair always finds a way to get the upper hand. This is a very effective TV match beacuse it tells the story of the young Houston who is rising up and is getting to shine on the World Champion but he isn't quite up to par yet to beat him although he's getting closer. Flair wins with the Figure-Four and Arn runs out trying to help Flair break his leg until Dusty comes out and makes the save using his orthopedic boot. Very fun match and I'll pass it on as a low-end nomination.Texas Bullrope Match: Cowboy Ron Bass vs. JJ Dillon (12/15/85)Bass is getting revenge from Starrcade and this is going good until TV time runs out.America's Team (Dusty Rhodes & Magnum TA) vs. "Nature Boy" Ric Flair & The Minnesota Wrecking Crew (Ole & Arn Anderson) (12/15/85)God damn the early part of this match is great as the faces are just ass kickers with the heels bumping and selling hard. Manny & Arn especially are fun doing their stuff before Manny got caught as the FIP and he was tremendous in this role taking punishment and firing back with hope spots. Dusty & Magnum helping him out when they could was great too. Arn would nail Manny with a steel chair then Dusty would put Flair in the Figure-Four as Ole pinned Manny to win. Damn fun TV match and this is a solid nomination.Next we get clips of the Bunkhouse Stampede from 12/15/85 in Greensboro which looked great. Then we get stuff I've seen already.Next we get clips of Dusty getting jumped by Arn & Tully until Magnum made the save. The Risky Business Boys (Dusty Rhodes & Ronnie Garvin vs. Arn Anderson & "Nature Boy" Ric Flair (2/18/86)This was a fucking awesome spectacle here as the Rock Hill, South Carolina crowd was going apeshit for everything. The babyfaces just tee off on the Horsemen and Garvin would KO Flair with Dusty pinning him to win the match as the crowd went complete apeshit. Too short to be a nomination but god damn this needs to be an extra.
